Elwood Sharp with his wife Kate and daughter Sarah. Probably taken in their home in California after they had moved there sometime in the 1920's. Elwood was the son of William W. Sharp and was a grandson of Joseph Sharp and Hannah.

Sharp-lobed Hepatica (Hepatica acutiloba, sometimes listed as Anemone acutiloba or Anemone nobilis). I was surprised at how white these flowers are. Closer to home I usually see the other local species of hepatica (Round-lobed Hepatica), which typically has a purple tint to the flowers, among other differences. Much debate on this bird. I finally went with my gut of Sharp-shinned after having another experience with a definite sharpie I am comfortable with the size of this one to be the same as my other sharpie experience.

I spotted this when actually parked at Newcastle Beach after a sunrise shoot.
I liked the acute angle of the leading edge of this building - I exaggerated this by leaving on my wide-angle lens and taking a couple of shots, including this one.
This is one of the new buildings that has been built on the former Royal Newcastle Hospital site.
