Sharper Image Catalog June 1990 Father's Day Bill Cosby from the huge prior art research catalog collection, now for sale, of Mike Mozart of TheToyChannel and JeepersMedia on YouTube

How are you?

How you doing?

How's your family?

Are those tears?

I’m fine, and you?

Doing great! How about you?

We’re good… how’s your family? Alcoholic? No, He just drinks like this on social occasions.

Tears? No, the sun is just bright. Or must be allergies.

For many years I hid behind a mask. People didn’t want to hear the truth. They were just being friendly. They don’t like complainers. Inside I was tore up to pieces, but on the outside everything was picture perfect.

I have since shed the mask, but every once in awhile I find myself slipping it back on. When I do, I become angry at myself. But there are still those people that just want positive things in their life. That don’t want to hear the truth. Don’t like “complainers” And that don’t really care… but were asking out of kindness. So I shut down and withdraw my response and hold it inside.

So how about you? How are you? REALLY? Not just what you tell people.

"How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child! " – King Lear (Act I, Scene IV) - William Shakespeare.

NB! This quote has been selected from a famous play by William Shakepeare.

Familiar, everyday quotes have crept into the English language and they are often used on a daily basis although most people do not appreciate that they are actually famous quotes by William Shakespeare and originate from great plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Othello and a Midsummer Nights Dream.

Uploaded a sharper, less dust riddled version 4/19/20. The description below is from 2011.

The is a different version of a picture I posted last summer. That one was from the scan of a 5x7 negative. This is a contact print from an 8x10 negative. I'm finally learning how to make my scans look sharp like they do on the prints.

The exposure was 80 seconds at F16. The meter indicated 12 seconds with HP5 rated at 200 ASA instead of 400. Reciprocity failure compensation took it to 40 seconds, and I added 1 stop to correct for N-1 contraction in development to help control the highlights. In the darkroom, the time suggested for Harvey's Panthermic 777 developer was 11 minutes @ 74ºF. My darkroom was at 65 degrees, which took it to 18:45. I subtracted 30% for the 200 ASA rating, 30% of the remaining time for N-1 contraction, and 20% for compensation for reciprocity. I ended up with 8 minutes total development time. This seemed to work. I was always afraid to make all of these adjustments because I had so much trouble with thin negatives early on, but I seem to be better at metering at night, and I've gotten better in the darkroom.

Lens: 19" Goerz APO Artar.

My write up on photographing the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas here

On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.

This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip. Thanks to David Scherer from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for showing me around, to Miiko Mentz at Katalyst Films for helping to arrange the shoot, and to my wife for modeling for me.

This image is displayed at Proper Eats, in St Johns, Oregon. It was part of my first exhibit there in 2006. It was originally to be the title piece at a show for Cafe Nola: a cajun eatery that occupied the same space previously. When Proper Eats was established, they agreed to have me as their inaugural art exhibit, but I had to drop the "Hot, Nude Tomato" as the show's marquis.

Uploaded sharper version 5/24/19. The original was horribly dusty. The following description is from 2014.

8x10 contact print from negative. It was a bright, October day in Sisters, Oregon. We took advantage of it by driving out of town on a road that got smaller and smaller as we went. We saw this lake looking perfectly still, and decided to set up the cameras. I had about a half an hour of uninterrupted photography until a dog decided to take a swim. The reflection was gone, and so we moved on.

B. Dalton Bookseller (often called B. Dalton or B. Dalton's) was an American retail bookstore chain founded in 1966 by the Dayton's department store chain. Located primarily in shopping malls, B. Dalton competed primarily with Waldenbooks, and operated 798 stores at its peak. Barnes & Noble acquired the chain from Dayton's in 1987, and continued to operate it until a late 2009 announcement that the last fifty stores would be liquidated by January 2010.

Dayton's, a department store chain based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, began the B. Dalton chain in 1966. The name B. Dalton was chosen because it "connoted quality, dependability and authority." Dalton was a spelling variation of Dayton. The first store opened in nearby Edina in August of that year, followed by a second in St. Louis, Missouri. Although the chain was originally intended to operate in downtowns and suburban areas, the majority of the stores were opened inside regional shopping malls. By 1969, Dayton's had merged with Hudson's of Detroit and became Dayton Hudson Corporation (now Target Corporation).

B. Dalton expanded throughout the 1960s and 1970s, going from twelve stores in 1968 to 125 five years later, peaking at 798 locations in 1986. In 1968, the chain acquired Pickwick Books of California, which merged in 1979. B. Dalton had stores in 43 of 50 states in 1978, and was second to Waldenbooks (then the U.S.' largest bookstore) in store numbers, but posted higher profits than its rival. A flagship store opened in Manhattan in December 1978, and between 1983 and 1986, the chain revived the Pickwick name as a discount bookstore.

By 1986, discounting practices by rival book chains had caused declining profits for B. Dalton stores, as had the decrease in new shopping malls. As a result of the declining profits, Dayton Hudson Corporation sold the B. Dalton chain to Barnes & Noble. Under Barnes & Noble's ownership, B. Dalton acquired Scribner Book Stores, Inc. from Rizzoli International Bookstores in 1989, and began a video game store called Software, Etc. (now GameStop). At the same time, the chain began closing outlets and relocating others, while opening other prototypes. By 1997, the chain had shrunk to 528 locations,[ and continued to close many more over the next decade.

In January 2010 Barnes & Noble closed the last 50 B. Dalton locations, except for the stores at Union Station in Washington, D.C. and Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York.

In January 2012 B.Dalton closed one of the last two locations at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York.
