Ford R192 Duple Viceroy new 1970 Taken at Showbus 2017 Donington Park

Morning warm up of Sharp.

A sign warns of a sharp turn, Prince Edward County, Ontario.

I had a lot of fun last night playing with my new Speedlite 580EX II. The cheap black blanket I tried using for a backdrop was not as good as I'd hoped, though, so I think I'll be on the look-out for something a little better.

Sharp-shinned Zen

I caught glimpses of this hawk on three occasions today, but it never stayed long in one area, always on the move searching for small birds.

Taken at Sharpness docks on the River Severn.

Always tricky to identify. Apparently the notch in the tail is a good clue to confirm that it is a SSHA and not a Cooper's

And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Sharp-shinned hawk, wing.

*Disclaimer: since people will likely wonder how I obtained this hawk, it died by hitting a window on my aunt's house. It was chasing a robin at the time and both birds hit and died. Fish & Game instructed us to bury the animal, as it is illegal to possess all manner of deceased birds in Alaska. Before I buried the hawk, though, I took these scans of it - I didn't want its beauty to go to waste.

In the spring, sharp-tailed grouse form mating grounds, or leks, where they congregate to compete for territories and perform mating displays for visiting females. This crowded scene leads to fighting among the males as they attempt to outcompete one another and win the affections of the onlooking females.
