Ran across this moccasin (after a friend pointed it out) while on the trail looking for migratory birds. It was the largest one I had ever seen at Ft. Pickens! It did not look happy to see me, and I wasn't too happy to see it. After a brief stare-down, we decided to go our separate ways.

Three frenchmen share stories over a glass of wine whilst eating bread and cheese.....in the town of Aigre...The guy on the left is Lucien who still rides his moped at the ripe age of 97 years!!!

On the Nizamuthin Express, running 4 hours over time,
now you know why everybody want to come to India, certain when it is the end of the world, India is usually too late !
Here you see brother asking his sister what she need to eat in the station Vijayavada, a stop of 15 minutes.
Still 6 hours to go to Delhi ... after 40 hours of train already, you start to make a new temporary community here, sharing bananas, food, net .... , brother and sister sitting next to me.
i shared the sunset with a few of my bird friends.
i used my 50 mm and stood right by the feeder with all that lovely sunset bokeh in the background.
the big hummers aren't happy to have me so close but the younger ones are used to me. at one point this guy was flying around my head and shoulder. needless to say i didn't scream or move.
this was shot hand held. ouch to my neck this morning (holding the camera for so long.. because you can't move when they come around) i should have used the tripod. i am hurting today. silly me.. but it was worth it.
remember.. you need to sometimes go through pain for the beauty to come. yes that is rather philosophical but true... :-)

During a shoot I love creating a visual record of my setups & sharing them with you guys on my site. A couple of people have told me recently that they actually use my site as a reference for setting up shots while they are out on location. That's pretty humbling/awesome, thanks!

• 600ex camera right on 1/4th power bounced off the ceiling.
A hummingbird and a butterfly share a feeder.
I was playing around with my most recent lens purchase - the Olympus M.75-300mm II. I shot this at 300mm wide open to test its sharpness wide open. Because it's such a slow lens I figure I'll need to shoot wide open most of the time. Unfortunately, the performance wide open at 300mm is only just acceptable. I think I'll have to shoot at f/8 and bump up the ISO when needed.
Kid with good ear. Peter is always trying to make me enjoy his music... fortunately he has good taste.
Bumble bee on the right with cucumber beetle on the left. Didn't see the little guy until later. Lots of pollinators to be found in a patch of pickerelweed.
