This work is a masterpiece of Greek vase-painting because it brings together many features of Athenian culture in an artistic expression of the highest quality. The shape itself is central to the effect. Through the symmetry, scale, and luminously glossy glaze on the obverse, it offers a carefully composed three-dimensional surface that endows the subject with volume. The identity of the singer is given by his instrument, the kithara, which was a type of lyre used in public performances, including recitations of epic poetry. The figure on the reverse is identified by his garb and wand. While the situation is probably a competition, the subject is the music itself. It transports the performer, determines his pose, and causes the cloth below the instrument to sway gently.

Sometimes it's just shapes that deceive that's the whole idea of disruptive camouflage. Change the shape of tank to make it look like a truck. It will still be a tank.

An accompanying photograph to the previous video of my Stuart Models shaping machine which I built from a kit of rough castings and bar stock to supplied drawings from Stuart Models. I finished the model in 2018 and installed it within the Victorian Line shaft work shop I'm building.
The line shafting is in a rough state of build in the video because it was in a state of development. The line shafting and belt tensioners being scratch built and designed to ensure good adhesion without risking over tensioning the tint rubberised belts thus minimising the risk of the belts coming adrift and ensuring the right tension throughout the speed ranges. Not exactly a scale reproduction to traditional line shafting but it works.
I was particularly pleased with the shaper because the tricky operation is dove tailing the ram to the base to give a perfect motion with no slop. I got it spot on along with the table.
I had a lot of enjoyment making this model. A reasonable quality lathe and milling machine are essential, but I believe ready machined kit of components are available from Stuart Models.

The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is a species of baleen whale. It is a rorqual (a member of the family Balaenopteridae) and is the only species in the genus Megaptera. Adults range in length from 14–17 m (46–56 ft) and weigh up to 40 metric tons (44 short tons). The humpback has a distinctive body shape, with long pectoral fins and tubercles on its head. It is known for breaching and other distinctive surface behaviors, making it popular with whale watchers. Males produce a complex song that typically lasts from 4 to 33 minutes.
Found in oceans and seas around the world, humpback whales typically migrate between feeding areas towards the poles and breeding areas near the equator. Their diet consists mostly of krill and small fish, and they usually use bubbles to catch prey. They are polygynandrous breeders, with both sexes having multiple partners. Males will follow females and fight off rivals. Mothers give birth to calves in shallower water. Orcas are the main natural predators of humpback whales. The bodies of humpbacks host barnacles and whale lice.
Like other large whales, the humpback was a target for the whaling industry. Humans once hunted the species to the brink of extinction: its population fell to around 5,000 by the 1960s. Numbers have partially recovered to some 135,000 animals worldwide, but entanglement in fishing gear, collisions with ships, and noise pollution continue to affect the species
