My framing was a bit iffy, but this is a nice result for an object I've never attempted before. Taken with the Dwarf3 using its Duoband filter, this is 200×30 second exposures at Gain 60.
The California Nebula is a faint, emission nebula located approximately 1,000 light-years away in the constellation Perseus. It is named for its shape, which resembles the state of California, and is a star-forming region energized by the hot, massive star Xi Persei. The nebula glows primarily red, a color produced by energized hydrogen gas.
When I got to work today, I noticed a strange shape had appeared in my window view so after work I went to investigate.
I have no idea what they are calling this (it's for the Southampton Waterlitz Festival at the weekend), but to me it's an inukshuk made from shipping containers.
This is a 3-shot HDR done with my little Nikon P300. I wish it had less 'HDR glow' but I've fixed it the best I can in PSE10. It's not bad for a quick grab in the wind & rain for my 365 project. :)
Edit - apparently it does have a name, 'Omni Ideal X' and it is 7 stories/19m high.

Hang out long enough and you start to become each other…just ask these galaxies.
In Webb’s latest image (shown at right here), two galaxies in the process of merging are twisting each other out of shape. Bright tendrils of star-forming regions connect their two glowing cores. These star-forming regions are particularly bright in infrared light, the wavelengths that Webb specializes in.
