What treasures might you find in your grandparents’ attic? Nana’s old sewing machine….Aunt Charlotte’s old dollhouse? Maybe a tin soldier that Uncle Milton used to have in his army….a doll that your mother loved….certainly plenty of memories among the old trunks and boxes.

This little plastic sewing machine has been on the bench just waiting for a chance to see the world, here you go "Made of Plastic" and beginning to yellow a bit.
Sewing machine at Standen, a National Trust property near East Grinstead. No information on its provenance, I'm afraid.
Several years ago, I was looking for a Singer feather weight. A friend located this one, so I had to buy it, as I was born in 1951. So, me and my sewing machine are the same age...vintage! :-) Pretty much sits in it's case, no time to sew because of this thing called photography.
I have been astounded and satisfied at the quality of photos that I can make on my Google Pixel 5 along with the Snapseed photoediting app. May not be going to an art museum but meets my needs and is always in my pocket.

Smile On Saturday, "Things You Love To Do".
I Love To Sew.
Like many of my crafts, I taught myself how to sew. After mastering the basics on an OLD vintage SINGER, I bought myslef a Kenmore Sewing Machine from Sears with money that I saved from teaching dance lessons I made clothes for college, redesigned my mother's wedding dress for my wedding day, make clothes for my children when they were young, and then much later sewed drapes and curtains for their houses. And NOW, I am enjoying the art of Machine Quilting.
It has been a long and wonderful trip from sewing on my mother's Singer to the challenge of the new technology on my Baby Lock. And after taking some time off to concentrate on my photography, It feels good to be behind a sewing machine again, especially with a newer high-tech sewing machine with a computer in it.
I have a lot to learn in this new Sewing Genre, but look forward to the challenge and the joy that it brings me.
This sewing machine belonged to my mother long ago. My husband set it up because he needs his lightweight pants repaired.
I can almost remember this machine and the quirks it has. Or not.
Breaking news: Yey! Changed thread to all polyester. Then changed machine needle. I think this helps the tension. Certainly helps MY tension.
VOTE!
I just happened to take a photo of my sewing machine in action the other day, and the theme for Smile on Saturday this week is Needles or Spines, so here is my offering...

For Macro Monday - Sewing Notions
On a 'mini' sewing machine we have for when it is not worth getting the full sized machine out.
The foot is 40 mm front to back.
Happy Macro Monday.
Bits of the old Singer

I saw this Singer sewing machine recently at a store and it triggered so many childhood memories. …… many households had one of these. Happy Sunday 😊
Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 20 / 07 / 2024 -- Sharp .
First idea was some spines on a cactus plant ( see first comment box please ) , but with the arrival of a brand new sewing machine at home a quick shot of the needle should be sharp enough for the challenge . As it stands this shot was taken after only a few runs of the machine so the needle is still as sharp as it gets !! Looking at the shot I think the teeth of the feed dogs look pretty sharp as well so I think I have captured some sharpness for the challenge and the Sigma 105 does a great job of capturing it as well .
I think some of you will know where I am going with the music this week from the title - so here is Cinderella -----------
