Italia, Toscana, Fiesole, Ancient Etruscan and Roman settlement, Teatro romano, Günther Stilling sculpture.
Shown here is the Teatro Romano, an ancient Roman amphitheatre in Fiesole (near Firenze), draped across the Tuscan hills. With a Günther Stilling’s sculpture centre stage. A meaningful setting for it. Stilling is intrigued by classic culture and in his 'deconstructed' hand the echoes of the violent side of antiquity are apparent.
This is number 45 of the Firenze album and 36 of Theatres & Concert halls.
This beautiful beach is at Nelson Bay. A tiny shack settlement with a permanent registered population of four. That's right, four. If you want off-grid living, this is the place to be. And far enough from the rest of the world to be able to not give a care either. In this part of the world, the Tasmanian east coast is a foreign country.
This is another typical farm house in Azumino Valley with cedar woods for windbreak. This photo was taken in Matsukawa village, a few km south of the previous photo.
Dispersed settlement is a characteristic of western part of Azumino Valley where the development was relatively new compared with the eastern part where settlements are older and agglomerated. It is thanks to the improvement of security conditions along with the progress of flood control techniques in the Edo period (17th to 19th century), which made it possible to convert the flood plains to rice paddy.
Rice blooms from late July to early August.
The harvest season is from late September to mid-October.
In the traditional and hunting settlement of Kullorsuac, Northwest Greenland (above latitude 74 degrees N and pollution of less than 500) the beauty of its surroundings is undeniable.
This is named the altar and around one can see carved old norse runes and newer names or initials

Brumleby (formerly Lægeforening's homes) is a residential building on Østerbro, Copenhagen in Denmark.
As a consequence of the cholera epidemic in Copenhagen in 1853, Brumleby was built on Østerfælled. The construction started in 1853 and the project was funded with that Lægeforeningen collected on a private basis. Lægeforeningen wanted to create healthy and cheap homes for the working class.
The construction phase stretched from 1853-1857 and in the first stage was built 240 very small one and two-bedroom apartments, where it at the beginning lived approx. 900 people. Due to the war in 1864, there was a number of years before the rest of the settlement was completed. This happened in 1866-1872.
When the construction was complete, it was approx. 550 apartments in Brumleby with approx. 2500 people living there.
I’ve wanted to build a sci-fi city again since I tore down Undiri, but it took me five days to disassemble and sort my Brickworld ships as well as the other pieces that I brought with me. That’s FIVE days, my fellow FOLs. I’m sure some have taken more time, but it’s the most I’ve ever had to devote to sorting, and as soon as I was done, I swore off LEGO forever…or about ten minutes, whichever came first.
I went after the city in the same night that I finished my sorting and decided quickly that I was going to build something that wouldn’t take the better part of a week to disassemble, while sacrificing as little in the way of form and detail as possible. This is my first attempt at mountains, as well as any kind of landscaping. The scale is much smaller than anything I’ve done to date. So there were many firsts for me here. All things considered, I’m actually pretty pleased with the results.
The Grant Grove Settlement was based on the ideas of John Muir, the first environmentalist (1838 – 1914). Muir helped preserve the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and many other wilderness areas. He is also the co-founder of the Sierra Club. His letters, essays, and books describing his adventures in nature have been read by millions.

The Alpine settlement of "higher" Stofful, 2,050m above the sea. Some of these old buildings are still in use, during the summer, when the livestock is brought to the highest pastures.
The distant summit, at the horizon, is Punta Straling, 3,115m.
Years ago, in January, you could find these buildings buried under deep snow.

Sund is a fishing village in Flakstad Municipality. The settlement, with around 100 permanent residents, is located on the southwest coast of the island of Flakstadøya. The fishing village is considered to be one of oldest in Lofoten.
Until the end of the Second World War, the village of Konau, located behind the Elbe dyke, belonged to the Lüneburg district. After the Second World War, due to the lack of a bridge over the Elbe and the associated supply difficulties, it was handed over to the Soviet occupation zone in July 1945 for practical reasons, and Konau subsequently became part of the GDR. Due to its location in the so-called protective strip of the GDR border, the village has retained the typical building style for the history of settlement on the Elbe to this day. After German reunification, Konau returned to Lower Saxony in the Lüneburg district.
Gastown is the original settlement that became the core of the creation of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Currently, it is a national historic site and a neighbourhood in the northwest end of Downtown Eastside, adjacent to Downtown Vancouver.
World's first steam powered clock
Historic Gastown
Vancouver, British Columbia
Canada
The insides of this clock is where the magic begins....
Built in 1977. Raymond Saunders' first steam clock was built in 1977 to solve the issue of a steam vent in a popular sidewalk for the renovated Gastown district of Vancouver. Owned by the City of Vancouver, BC Canada
The steam clock's plaque reads:
THE GASTOWN STEAM CLOCK
Designed and built by
Raymond L. Saunders
Horologist
The world's first steam powered clock has been created for the enjoyment of everyone. The live steam winds the weights and blows the whistles. Every 4.5 minutes one steel weight will travel by steam power to the top of the clock. The gravity driven "falling ball" drive was 'engineered' by Douglas L. Smith. Each quarter hour the clock will sound the Westminster Chimes. The large whistle will sound once on the hour. The steam is supplied by the underground system of Central Heat Distributor's Limited. The component parts cost $42,000 and the clock weighs over two tons.
A few years ago the clock was refit and is not entirely steam powered. It also has three small electric motors to help operate two internal fans, one of which blows the steam out the top, and another that controls the valves that play the tunes on the five steam whistles mounted atop the clock case.
The large central whistle, which was taken off the CPR steam tug Naramata, counts off the full hours while the four auxiliary whistles chime the Westminster Quarters every quarter hour. The number of chimes matches the number of quarter hours that have passed.

Procida is the smallest island of the Gulf of Naples; it is rich in attractions and archaeology. From the ground floor of Napoli Centro train station, you can take the metro to station Pozzuoli then get off and take the ferry at the port of Pozzuoli. The architecture of Procida has a Greek origin. In fact, the history of Procida is concentrated first of all on the medieval village “Terra Murata” and on “Corricella”, the fishing settlement. The island has served as the set for numerous films, such as The “Postman”, and some scenes in “The Talented Mr. Ripley” were shot on Corricella. The landmarks of Procida reflect typical Mediterranean pastel colours. Procida offers simply cooking and at least 10 excellent restaurants with plain cooking based on fresh fish. This simple style never fails, thanks to the 20 local fishing boats. The specialties of the cooking are: stewed rabbit (which goes back to the Borbonen who came on Procida to hunt the wild rabbit) and spaghetti with sea-urchin. Procida has 6 beaches with crystal-clear waters. Spent some relaxing days on this wonderful island. Experience the real Italy, lovely people, great views, great sand and great food.
The best way to get to procida is travelling to Pozzuoli first ,beautiful as well as other districts of Naples, by train where you will find marina with ferries. Before reaching the Island, you'll enjoy wonderful views of Faro Capo Miseno and its lighthouse. From the lighthouse you have Incredible views of Capri, Procida, Ischia, Pocinda, Baia, Pozzouli, Sorrento, Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. Bout a 20 minute hike to the top. Paved with stone steps all the way. Photo of Capo Miseno looking over the mussel beds in the approaches to Porto Miseno.
