Setting sail for New Zealand for a 14 day cruise stopping in at Fjordland Nat Park, Dunedin, Akaroa, Wellington, Napier, Rotorua (Tauranga), Auckland and the Bay of Islands...
Shame about the hazy conditions...
The setting sun, taken from my front garden. The thin wispy clouds are visible across the sun at the top and about two thirds of the way down.
The small dot towards the south-east of the sun isn't a spot in the camera, it's something that was there in the sky. I don't know if it's a sunspot, or a satellite, or even the International Space Station. Answers on a postcard please!

Lately, I've been spending most of my web-time on Flickr. I changed my settings in Firefox, because I didn't like the white background - especially in the evening. It's difficult to see photos (especially dark ones), when they are surrounded by a bright white background.
To get to these settings in Firefox, go to Tools --> Options --> Fonts & Colors. Besides changing the colors, I set my font sizes higher because I use 1600 x 1200 screen resolution. It's nice for viewing pics, but not for reading! :)
The down-side to this is that ALL of your pages will display this way. Any font colors or other nuances on some webpages may not be apparent when using these settings.
Also, if a page has a white or bright picture as a background, you may have trouble reading it due to the white font.
a setting sun on a very cold November day provided a wonderful opportunity, this series of shots are all straight off camera. Taken at Agden on the Bridgewater Canal near Lymm / Altrincham, Cheshire. Brrr it was cold.
The terminus of Chenega Glacier has a calving ice face over 1.6 miles (2.6 km) long. Topo maps indicate the face to be over 500 ft tall.
The sailing ship to the right is called "Alma Doepel" and was built in Australia in 1903. Amazingly she was still carrying cargo from Tasmania to Melbourne, under sail, until 1975.
