Had a lie-in this morning and the most decadent breakfast of pancakes with cooked black cherries and a mix of peanut butter cup & salted caramel vegan ice cream, swimming in maple syrup.. with a frothy coffee.. in bed.. what an amazing start to the day! I feel totally loved!
I'm an Aquarian, kind of on the cusp of Pisces and totally live up to my spontaneous, sensitive, day-dreaming, open-minded, rebellious, visionary, eccentric traits.. phew, that's a lot. Spontaneous downtime is important for me!

Posting a little later tonight, but although it seems as though this was taken in daylight, it was actually pitch black nighttime and there was no light coming through the window I'm facing.. it's lit with one constant light and some clever placement to diffuse any giveaway nighttime shadows.
The set-up is so simple.. a few props, materials, and a 2m sq space in the corner of my bedroom, (yes, actually in the house not in a teepee or a caravan!) with a super king bed, which makes the perfect platform for various photographic sets for clothing / jewellery / accessories.
Ahhh, can you feel the romance?
Cosy little corners are the best.. a quick self-styled set design and self-portrait with wonderful model, Joel AKA Limit, who is one of the nicest guys to hang out & work with.

Set in the second half of the 22nd century, Mars has been 84% terraformed, allowing humans to walk on the surface without pressure suits. Martian society has become matriarchal, with women in most positions of authority.
The story concerns police officer Lt. Melanie Ballard (Natasha Henstridge), who is sent to a remote mining outpost to transport prisoner James 'Desolation' Williams (Ice Cube). Arriving at the remote mining town, Ballard & her team find that all of the people are missing. She learns that they had discovered an underground doorway created by an ancient Martian civilization. When the door was opened, it released disembodied spirits or "ghosts", which took possession of the miners. The Katis villa where I stayed in Corralejo, Fuerteventura had a 4-poster sun bed on the roof terrace, so I decorated it with some colourful scarves and sarongs I had in my case, many which were translucent and let the sunlight through beautifully.
I shot this using my Huawei P20 phone on self timer.

Sundays are rest days in every sense of the word now I'm working out with weights 6 days a week with every Sunday off, so I'm spending the day mostly spring cleaning my little caravan now it's heading towards the end of summer, washing stuff, tidying the awning & doing some repairs on the canvas.
I've just started retouching more Bohemian Garden photographs too, so do keep your eye out & give me a follow here if you've enjoyed that series so far & want to see more.

Simone & I managed to temporarily repair ours when it happened to us on a camping trip, but bought a new one too.
I moved the old one outside and the gaffa tape held just long enough to make this set and shoot some photos.. it became a comfy outdoor space to watch the stars in the evenings before we retreated to our (more robust!) teepee!

Gaetano Donizetti's opera buffa brings themes dear to my heart.
The dearth of modern operatic productions threatens to drown the decent conservative values of the art. It would be so easy to propose a set design of Coney Island with a roller coaster ride and retirement homes as a suitable modem rendition for the opera's setting.
But as i am always concerning myself with the reconciliation of opposing themes, here ones that underlie the opera. I propose a symbolic interconnection of the past with a fantasy laden present; I am doubtful my design could provide any transcendence, but I will let a little obsessive detail play in, paying attention to transitions like an attentive conductor and with a doubtful amount of skill. I let some rustic simple architectural music do the communication across time. I will follow the urging of my heart, and let innovation propelled by desire rather than architectural sense do the singing, perhaps the old bachelor Pasquale would approve. The main structure of the design, a small 11'x22' drinking shack, entreats both the composer and his leading character to relax, drink, eat and take it easy. This is an alternate universe to the Rome of the opera and seeks to release the built up tension of the opera; the original plot does not do this to a satisfactory extent, only perhaps in the sense of the commedia dell' arte. So this does the reconciliatory work which a modern operatic production might botch. The opera's most famous soprano Giulia Grisi tends to the bar and eating establishment.
I have no drawing technique to perfect, nor any fancy equipment. Compositionally I'm kind of a blunderer. My only aesthetic is a very dubitable one, it is the aesthetic of fun, but my eternal hope is that those in history whom I've dedicated my designs to would approve the honors given and enjoy themselves within the imagined architectural settings. Like John Hejduk I don't seek that these designs be built, as they do their intended work in the imagination. As Tadao Ando once conveyed, a design can be completely laid out with just one drawing for any competent builder to construct. Derivated to another level, a single imagined design should do the trick also, with one compressed drawing.
Instead of an operatic set design, this design is for an Asian drinking alley that adjoins the Paris Opera house, Donizetti's personal place for the blossoming of his art. Part of my drawing is adapted from the work of the architect Ludwig Leo Ausschnitt.
A grail-like hot pot, the Japanese nabe, is like a fountain of youth which accompanies a drinking session to a feverish level to revive the bachelor in a healthier way than Pasquale being duped by the harlequin-like Malatesta. After the meal, the amiable group of Pasquale can play a game of cards, a rebuttal of the Faustian game, in which avoiding the harlequin would be the principal goal of the card game. Giulia Grisi uses harlequin's wand as a card-dealing stick and his guitar to serenade the elderly group. The intimate drinking bar is a basic model for all the establishments along the Asian styled alley, linked by a riverside promenade next the opera house. The design of this riverside alley mimics an opera's orchestra pit.

I find this is super useful information for the birth & longevity of every healthy relationship, whether it's a friend or a love interest.
It's often the case & fairly well known that the best relationships aren't formed when you go looking for them, but when you work on yourself, date yourself, get to know who you are and indulge in a whole lotta self-love - you will radiate an energy which will attract like-minded people to you.
The higher your vibration, the higher the vibration of the person you'll attract.

You can have the nicest house in the world, but for me it's just a roof over your head.. I much prefer to have sweet sheltered hideaways in the garden than a large or luxurious house. I'd trade it all for a beautiful outdoor haven.
