I was trying to figure out how to curve the top and bottom in fast enough to fit the head properly after the shoulder join.

I needed room to work on Tom 2.0_o, so Tom 1.0 got set in the corner. Later, I realized he was pouting just a little bit about the experience. Expressive robots are expressive.
etched doublesided pcb last night to test design. using new 0.31" copper clad. much easier to work with!
Tom's head has been rebuilt to be a stud wider in diameter. It fits his more accurate scale a lot better.
Now, if my engineering class has helped me, the object to the left is the motor and servos for moving the arms.

The backdrop overbalanced, fell forward, and took out Tom's head. His dome shattered. His head exploded. Knocked off his arm, too.
My idea for transferring movement up to the part that would open and close the petals (think, umbrella) didn't really work, so it's out for now.
It still has no smarts, now I'm adding some distance sensors in some configuration to make it react a little bit, it's not the main goal, but it should have personality.
My friend Amanda who is a jeweller is helping me build the stem structure out of metal.

Scott Wayne Indiana built a Scotch Yoke to convert the rotational motion of a servo into linear motion for our Running of the Bulls electromechanical game.
I designed this laser cut kit of parts for assembling a scotch yoke, a mechanism for converting rotational motion into linear motion. I'm using it to control a physical camera based on the position of a virtual camera in an After Effects animation to achieve a match move. Servos mounted in the Left forearm. There are six servo motors used as of version 2. One for the wrist twist/rotation and five for the individual fingers. Note: A contributor named: Anar has created a rotating thumb to more closely mimic human motion. This adds a seventh servo. I do not think I'll worry it now. I've been too long in the making.
