Miami Beach, Florida, USA --- Stone Crab, Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant, Miami Beach --- Image by © Hoberman Collection/Corbis
I hand carved this serving dish from a piece of a Black Cherry tree that had been bulldozed over near where I live.
A large metal serving tray holds a generous portion of loaded nachos or quesadillas. The dish is layered with crispy tortilla chips, melted cheese, seasoned ground beef, and sliced jalapeños. A creamy white sauce is drizzled over the top, adding a rich, savory element. The dish appears ready to be shared and enjoyed.
Vintage Genuine Pewter Clover Shaped Divided Tray. This great tray is divided into 3 sections & has a handle. Marked Genuine Pewter on the bottom. The tray appears to have been painted on the top part with a silver natural looking paint. However it is starting to flake off in a couple spots & I believe could be removed & would clean up nicely to its original pewter if desired. Does have some dings/dints due to age which is normal. Please see all photos. Measuring 9 1/2" across & standing 1" deep. www.mybookbarn.ecrater.com

A trip back in Nov 2012. Forgot to process the photos so they are a little late getting published.

A good day out with a break in the middle for a meal. Lots and lots to see for all. This set is just a fraction of the exhibits to be seen.

Small dish carved from four pieces of laminated Black Cherry Wood. Finished with pure tung oil. The wood came from a Cherry tree that had been bulldozed down to clear the edge of a field near my home.
This is the latest in a series of botanically themed dishes and bowls I am making in my studio. I plucked some nasturtiums from my garden and pressed them into a slab of clay before forming it into this dish.
My mom gave me these dishes this week as a hand me down. I believe she's had them for 30 years or so. I remember using them while I was growing up and they were dug out during a big move recently. I happily took them with me to have for my own home now. These are only a few of a whole set I received.
They have my name written all over of them: flowers and colorful.

No knife required. It's done when it falls apart.
