This Pyrex Gold Acorn lidded casserole features a very retro pattern of golden oak leaves and acorns scrolling across a beige background. The pattern was produced in the starting in 1960 for only a short time.

Mom: That was one of the most fun things I ever did. I really made it for Cousin Jimmy.
Me: Well, if he was there, he's not in the picture. Why was it for him?
Mom: Well, his brothers also, but he was the littlest. But sometimes think it was for me. Because I loved things like that.
Me: How did you make it?
Mom: A regular cake recipe. You made it with two round pans. You know, like you would a regular cake. And...I guess I got it from the newspaper, the Daily News....and then you cut the round layers into certain sections and put them together with frosting. And it came out a bunny.
Me: Is that coconut?
Mom: I think it probably is.
Me: So it was just cake and frosting?
Mom: Yeah. I can't remember what the eyes were made of...maybe big gumdrops? And it looks like I made the ears were made of paper.
Me: So how did he like it?
Mom: Oh, I guess they liked it. But they were kids and they were boys, and I guess they weren't as excited about it as I was.
Me: I see Dad has a cigar in his pocket.
Mom: I think when Frank used to come to these things. He brought cigars.
Me: Whose cakes were the other ones?
Mom: The chocolate one was mine. In those days I loved to bake. I'm not sure about the other. Seeing the flowers made me think it might be mine. Hold on...oh, that was mine! It was a lemon pound cake.
Me: Three cakes! That was ambitious!
Mom: Well, I always did things in a big way. And the lemon pound cake was Millie's favorite.

I picked up my dish today. The shape was just perfect for a barkcloth design. It is sitting proudly now on my coffee table or should I put it on my boomerang tables?

Diamonds in bright chartreuse, a streaky blue with hints of white, and a steel blue that has a definite silver feel to it, are painstakingly cut and assembled together like a puzzle.

Apples on my dining room table. Today, with help from Nick and Julie, our friends, we were able to get a lot done. My parents also came over and my dad installed our programmable thermostat that we got for Christmas from them. The pile of boxes is mostly gone now and there are places to sit and just live.
Random Fact: Last week I got a house, This coming week I start a long term sub job for the rest of the year, and then next week I begin an online class at UVM. This is going to be a crazy few months.

Opal Divided Serving Dish - does anyone know if it comes with a lid?
Opal Oval Divided Pyrex Serving Dish 1063-D 1962
I like it because it is different then other divided dishes. It is also plain with no pattern.
The handles are rounded and the whole dish is wider too. It did not come with a lid.
It looks like the same shape as the Bluebelle. I do not have the Bluebelle. I have only seen it on Flickr.
I just read that no these never came with lids! It is believed to be a snack server and the regular divided dish doesn't fit since this dish is more oval and a bit larger.
The 2yr old and I attended the neighborhood garage sale this morning. We call it treasure hunting of course.
