Serving Place
The Serving Place was also built for Sir Giles Daubney at some point from about 1495 to 1514. At the end of the Great Kitchens are the hatches through which the finished dishes passed. Another army of servants carried the food to the Great Hall and other chambers. Clerks from the nearby office kept a close eye on the proceedings at this end of the kitchen too, counting the dishes that passed out, and ensuring that valuable pewter serving dishes, chargers, cops, and bowls from the next-door store all came back again!
