One of my favourite rally attendants over the years is this "all" Leyland Titan PD2/1. According to my records GDL 764 was the first Leyland manufactured PSV vehicle to be used on the Isle of Wight and he first double decker in the Seaview Services fleet. Originally one of a pair, the other GDL 765 was replaced by ADL 321B a 54 seat Duple (Midland) bodied Bedford VAL14 bus in 1964. GDL 764 soldiered on until withdrawal in 1970. Subsequently stood in a garden it was used for the drying out of tobacco and was in a poor state when acquired for preservation in February 1984. Here it is seen on June 8th 1986 attending the Southsea Spectacular rally at Southsea in Hampshire.

During the ceremony emceed by Jennifer Donelan, from ABC/WJLA-TV, guests heard from Mayor Vincent Gray, Police Chief Cathy Lanier and keynote speaker Stacia Hylton, Director of the U.S. Marshals Service.

During the 20th century, men of a certain age were required to register for Selective (military) Service with the federal government. When that was done, the government issued what people called a draft card, as seen here. Bill had to register for the draft, even at age 30 and 7 months. He was never called into military service.
I had never seen a Birchwood-Couderay address before. I thought Yarnell had a post office back then. At any rate, Yarnell is perhaps equidistant from Birchwood and Courderay. Hayward is the Sawyer County seat.

Deputy Under Secretary, Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Janey Thornton, addresses attendants during the “Changing the Food Environment: Making It Happen” Nutrition Summit hosted by the United States Department of Agriculture and United States Department of Health and Human Services. The full day nutrition summit was held in Washington, D.C., Thursday, April 28, 2010. The nutrition summit was used to heighten the country’s focus on nutrition and to engage industry and government in improving access to and purchase of healthy foods.
