Now, I haven't returned to do my former 365 Days...But I miss taking photos to much and I'm weird but I just can't take photos unless I belong to...something. So when the fantabulous Mr. Moog started his 52 weeks group, how could I say no?
So here I am again, trying to make myself take one photo a week for a year (besides the random makeup photos I'll always do hehe) and this way it gives me time to prepare an idea and hopefully improve. However, I'm a little disappointed in my start. I really wanted this to come out better but I was all out of everything I had to make fake blood! So aside from opening a vein, I opted for something less to my liking. Oh well, we know this means I'll just have to try this again :D
I was thinking about Dr. Giggles while doing this. It's nowhere near close to my favorite horror movie, but I do remember cringing during the opening like mad :D
**And I totally promise sparkly makeup tomorrow after this**

This is the actual house where the serial killer/pedifile Gordon Stewart Northcott lived at in 1928. Brought to light by the true movie, The Changeling, starring Angelina Jolie.
The house is located in Mira Loma California, formerly known as Wineville California.... they changed the name in 1930 because of all the negative publicity.
I live less than 5 miles from this house and after watching the movie last night was driven to go see where the horrific torture and murders of all those young boys took place. I left there shaking and sick to my stomach.
When the movie was first released in Oct. 2008, the house was occupied. Heres the ABC news Video Interview with the occupant.
Since then the people have moved and the house is now up for sale. When I was there, there were also 2 other people who came to take pictures. So I'm not sure if the occupants moved after learning about the grizzly murders that took place there, or because of all the attention it is attracting.
The murders actually took place in the chicken coop behind the house which has since been torn down.
If you havent seen the movie, I highly recommend it. Details of the case can also be read here at wikipedia wineville murders
Sorry for such a morbid post, but this movie really affected me.... maybe because it was so close to home.
There are "No trespassing" signs on the window now. In my opinion, this house should be torn down!
Day 362 of the 365 Journey
A while back we started watching the hit T.V. show DEXTER on SHOWTIME video on demand. After watching all but 3 of the final episodes in season three, Showtime removed the listing from menu! Are they crazy! I wasn’t finished yet! To make a long story short I had to put the final disk into my Netflix queue. It finally came, and now I just have to find time to watch it! I love watching TV series on DVD. It gives me the flexibility to watch the very next episode immediately without having to wait a full week filled with anticipation!
If you’ve never seen the show DEXTER, it’s about a serial killer that works for the police dept as a blood splatter expert. He spends his time killing the VERY BAD people who have committed crimes and are highly likely to commit them once again. The show travels through his relationships with family and his inability to “feel” normal emotions; however pretend as he may. As odd as it seems you really due find yourself rooting for the bad guy…haha.
Do we see any similarities here with a certain red tied agent? Hmmmmmmm.

Erzsébet Báthory, more commonly known as Elizabeth Bathory, (or Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed, if you please,) was Hungarian nobility, born in 1560 in to an immensely powerful family. While accounts of her bathing in the blood of virgins in order to remain youthful are unfounded and uncorroborated, she was nevertheless one of the world's most prolific serial killers. Erzsébet and four of her servants murdered or tortured hundreds of young girls, with the number of victims cited in her trial as 650. While the King, Mathias II had suggested the death sentence, Erzsébet was spared out of fear of scandal and the ruin of a powerful and influential noble family. Instead of execution, Erzsébet was placed under strict house-arrest, confined to a few bricked-in rooms in her castle. At this point her only connection to the outside room was a slot through which food was passed to her. She lived four more years before dying in August of 1614. The exact location of her grave is unknown.
My jack-o-lantern from seven years ago that I never posted. With my favorite day right around the corner, I thought why not share it now? I based my carving on Erzsébet Báthory's 1585 portrait (found here).

For this theme Katy takes on the role of Olivia, a spoiled rich girl who has to have everything everyone else has, but better.
It wasn't long before one of her friends met a guy that was better looking than her current boyfriend, so Olivia dumped him and found someone bigger, buffer and cuter. Little did she know she had just started the countdown on her death clock because this 'buff hottie' was a sociopath and a serial killer. His M.O. is to take his victims to his basement where he mutilates them like so much cattle in a slaughterhouse.
So what was once a beautiful, yet spoiled girl is now nothing more than hacked up meat.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful - and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people - and neither do we." -- George W. Bush, August 6, 2004
......
"NorthCom started planning before the storm even hit. We were ready for the storm when it hit Florida. So what we did was we activated defense coordinating officers to work with the state to say okay, what do you think you'll need, and we set up staging bases that could be started. We had the USS Baton sailing almost behind the hurricane so that after the hurricane made landfall its search and rescue helicopters would be available almost immediately. So we had things ready. The only caveat is, we have to wait until the President authorizes us to do so. The laws of the United States say that the military can't just act in this fashion; we wait have to wait for the President to give us permission."
--Lt. Commander Sean Kelley, US Northern Command, speaking to the BBC

FEMA warns that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S.
2004
New Orleans district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requests urgent funding for the levee system. The Bush administration cut their request down by 80 percent. In total, from 2001-2005, the Bush administration cuts New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent in order to pay for the Iraq war, which is now costing American taxpayers between $4 and $5 BILLION dollars a month.
MONDAY, AUGUST 29
Hurricane Katrina strikes New Orleans at 8:00 AM with winds at 120 MPH and a storm surge of 18 feet. Within an hour, a levee break floods about 20% of the city. 26,000 people are taking shelter in the Superdome.
5 hours later, FEMA director Brown makes his first action: He sends a memo to Homeland Security Chief Chertoff, suggesting that 1,000 Fema workers should be sent in - but only after a 48 hour wait. One of their tasks, Mr Brown wrote, would be to "convey a positive image" about the government's response to the disaster.
By 7:00 that evening, the American Red Cross reports that they expect relief operations to be “the largest recovery operation the Red Cross has ever attempted.”
TUESDAY, AUGUST 30
By midmorning people in the Superdome have begun to die. The Red Cross arrives to deliver relief and supplies to those in the dome, but are turned back by the Department of Homeland Security, who explained that their assistance would discourage evacuation.
Bush, accompanied by Rumsfeld, speaks for over an hour at North Island Naval Air Base about the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Pearl Harbor, freedom, terrorism, Pearl harbor, evil, muslim fanatics, his dad's military service in WW2, the spirit of Liberty, Iraq, democracy in the Middle east, Osama Bin Laden, free people, and murderous regimes. He mentions the ongoing disaster only in passing. Afterwards he is photographed playing a guitar.
By mid-afternoon, Director of Homeland Security first learns of the levee break and flooding which had happened more than 24 hours earlier.
Throughout the day, tens of thousands of desperate people are directed to go to the city's main Convention Center for food and water, only to find that there are no supplies of any kind.
At 5:50 pm, 80% of New Orleans is underwater. Bush announces that he intends to cut short his vacation.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
President Bush calls for “zero tolerance” for looters or price gougers in a morning interview.
Bush tells Diane Sawyer says "I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees," despite the fact that the AP had reported on August 29, 3 days earlier: "Experts have warned for years that the levees have no chance against a direct hit by a category 5 storm." Four days earler, on August 28, the Mayor of New Orleans warned: "The storm surge will most likely topple our levee system."
In a morning interview with NPR’s Michael Seigel, Department of Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff admits he knows nothing of people stranded at the convention center.
In an evening interview with Paula Zahn, FEMA Director Brown says he just heard about people stranded at the convention center “a few hours ago.”
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
As of early friday morning, despite more than 24 hours of CNN and MSNBC footage of bodies in the streets and people dead and dying of hunger, rescue and relief teams from around the country are still sporadically being turned away.
At 9:35 AM in a speech given in Mississippi, the President praises FEMA Director Brown saying “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job.”
Later that day, Bush does a fly-over across New Orleans.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
Conflicting reports of FEMA requisitions report the delivery of between 25,000 and 45,000 body bags.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15
I hear this joke on FlickrCentral:
Q: What is President Bush's position on Roe vs. Wade?
A: He really doesn't care how people get out of New Orleans.
The darkness crept in on the soul of the little one. Soon evil things would be done.

Edward H. Rulloff (also known as Ruloff, Rulofson, Rulloffson, and several aliases; 1819/1820 – May 18, 1871) was a 19th century American doctor, lawyer, schoolmaster, photographer, inventor, carpet designer, phrenologist, and philologist, career criminal and serial killer. Rulloff started both sides of his life early, working in a law firm and spending two years in the penitentiary for theft, both before age twenty. At 1770 grams., Rulloff’s is regarded as the second largest (human) brain on record with the average human brain weighing 50 oz. (1417.48 grams).
His last words as he was hanged were reputedly, “Hurry it up! I want to be in hell in time for dinner.”

Greater Manchester Police have issued a video in response to unsubstantiated claims that a serial killer dubbed the ‘Pusher’ is responsible for deaths on the region’s waterways.
Between 2008 and 2014, 13 women and 72 men have sadly died in canals, lakes, ponds and rivers.
Only one of those bodies was left unidentified.
Of those deaths, 11 were recorded in Manchester city centre, 11 were recorded in Manchester and the remaining 63 died in waterways throughout the rest of Greater Manchester; an area of 493 square miles.
Detective Superintendent Peter Marsh said: “GMP would never dismiss or diminish the death of any person or any of the findings of a Coroner, each death has been subject to significant investigation and review by Detective teams overseen by a Senior Investigating Officer.
“If evidence of a crime being committed is not proved, then cases such as these are independently scrutinised by Her Majesty's Coroner within the Coronial process, who deliver the verdict, it is not the Police who deliver the finding of death whether that be a Natural Causes/Suicide/Accident/Unlawful Killing/Open or Narrative verdict.
“There have been no verdicts of unlawful killing in these cases, or direction that they believe a third party was involved in any of these tragic incidents. If there were, GMP would have reinvestigated them.
“The speculation and opinion offered by some observers of these events have been made without examination of all the facts and evidence, instead it has been made on supposition and opinion rather than a considered review of all the material.
“Whilst there are some unanswered questions, there is no evidence to support the opinion that these deaths occurred as a result of a serial killer; which is what the speculation is about.
“The GMP investigations have been painstaking and thorough; where there are gaps in any enquiry we have identified them to the Coroner especially when we are not able to confirm certain facts.
“The Coroners in Manchester have all indicated that if a person has real evidence about any death they dealt with that was not heard at inquest, then they should refer it back to them and they will act accordingly. At the present time GMP have no plans to revisit these investigations unless new evidence comes to light.
“There have also been incidents which have not been reported in the press, where people have entered the water by different means, have subsequently been pulled out alive and survived, none have indicated that they were either lured there or pushed in.
“GMP will continue to investigate any death of this nature thoroughly and if specific credible evidence rather than speculation that a crime has occurred comes to light, then we will seek to identify and prosecute that person as the public would expect.”
