Artwork 4 - Separation.
This artwork is inspired by the landscape of central Australia and is made of red oxide concrete. On the northern side of the artwork small holes have been drilled forming the shape of Australia. The holes provide an opportunity for people to leave messages recording their experience or thoughts on the issue of the separation of children.
Words describing aspects of the experience are also incorporated. These appear in the form of direct quotes from those who were taken, their carers and others involved. Behind the steel panel is a movement-activated speaker from which the song 'Took the Children Away', written and sung by Archie Roach, can be heard.
Reconciliation Place, A place which recognises the importance of understanding the shared history of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and which reaffirms our commitment to Reconciliation as an important national priority.

OK, it took dozens of photos, but I managed to get a few shots that captured just that exactly right moment in time, in this case, just as the drop was separating from the leaf.
I realise this looks a bit brown but it's actually clear glass on a black painted flat glass base. I wanted to get the reflection of the textured ball. The texture on the blown glass ball was created using wood glue as a mask before sand blasting.
Photographed on carpet & using artificial light & a cheap digital camera. (What am I saying....ALL my photographs were taken with a cheap digital camera!!)
Old cracked tires are dangerous to drive on, and should be removed. I had seen some cracks in my tires on my old truck and changed them, after taking them off I noticed the tread separation as you see in this image!

on my way home from work saturday afternoon, I passed this freaky incident on Peterson Ave. Seems the green car driver was making the turn at the same time as the red, red suddenly stopped, green hit gas instead of brake. whoops.
Removal of Festive Lighting, Ex Borders Store, Glasgow
Borders (UK) Ltd., aka Borders & Books etc, was established as a Borders Group subsidiary in 1998 and in 2007 became independent of the US company. At its peak after separation from the US parent, it traded from its 41 Borders and 28 BOOKS etc. shops, with over one million square feet of retail space taking around 8% of the retail bookselling market. In 2008 and 2009 the store numbers were reduced before the collapse of the chain.
On 26 November 2009 it was announced that Borders (UK) had gone into administration. All stores closed on 24 December 2009.

BENSENVILLE – February 19, 2013 - Governor Pat Quinn was joined by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Secretary Ann Schneider and other state and local officials today to break ground on a $67 million grade separation project in Bensenville that is part of the Chicago Regional Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program (CREATE). Funded through Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital program, the project to construct a rail flyover over Irving Park Road (IL Rt. 19) just east of York Road will create 870 jobs and boost long-term economic development by speeding up the flow of freight and vehicles on the southwestern edge of O’Hare Airport. Today's event is part of the governor's commitment to create jobs and update Illinois' infrastructure.
