This picture was taken when it was still a level railway crossing.

A grade separation with King Rd. passing under the railway tracks was constructed afterwards.

Located in Burlington Ontario.

Book Cover assignment, this one is to show text and image separation.

I just love the beach on stormy days, watching people walking and taking in all that fresh sea air. yet in amonst all the chaos of the surf and the noise of the wind there's an air of simplicity to the scene as I hope I have captured here. Careful placement of elements in a scene will I hope entice the viewer to ask questions of it and find a story within.

Our differences only separate us when we think more about ourselves than we do of others. Becoming others minded is a sure key to living in harmony with eachother. It is the key of hope for every troubled marriage and relationship.

As as christian I hold onto to the following: No marriage can be destroyed, nor end in divorce, when the husband sees his wife through the eyes of God, and the wife, choosing the same, sees her husband just as God sees him. A perspective change is all that we need, not a better wife, or a better husband. Simply ask God for HIS perspective, today.

These are some actions I have needed to adapt in my own marriage. We all mess up. That is why we need to give forgiveness and receive forgiveness from one another. In the absence of forgiveness love does not linger long. Un-forgiveness can be cured with a change in ones perspective, as described in the paragraph above. When we see ourselves as God's object of unmerited forgiveness-through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the cross-then we can choose to love other people the same way and start to forgive them of their wrongs committed against us, no matter how great they are. When we take an account of God's total forgiveness of ALL our wrongdoings the result is overwhelming. One account describes God's forgiveness like this: "As far as the east is from the west so far has God removed our transgressions from us." When we choose to receive God's forgiveness for ourselves He is most elated! All heaven celebrates at that moment! But God doesn't want us to remain there, so He takes us further, to the final step, where He then empowers us in our lives to forgive others of the wrongs they've committed against us, even of gross injustices! Believe me, when you have been as wounded, inside and out, as a victim of rape and all manner of abuse, you start to see the merit of being freed inside to forgive others for the wrongs they have perpetrated against you. Un-forgiveness eats you up inside with the goal of destroying everything that is good about you. Un-forgiveness almost turned me into a murderer when I was a teenager. But I praise God that He encountered me with His love before I could carry out my horrific plans. God so graciously intervened in my life (through a friend of mine at the time) with the astounding message of grace and God's total forgiveness for me through His Son Jesus. After that conversation with my friend I examined my life before God including everything that I could remember that I had done wrong, and all that I was planning to do that was wrong. It was the most humbling experience of my life. I knew in that moment that without receiving God's forgiveness, right then and there, that I would be compelled to complete my current path of self-destruction, where I would leave a wake of bloody devastation in my absence. (Like "Columbine") Because I received God's forgiveness for me on that day, at the age of 16, my life was spared and saved from destruction. God put me right with Him by his amazing grace. His forgiveness now realized in me totally freed me from every murderous desire and from suicide. That is the power of God alone! Since then God has enabled me (because I was unable to do so before) to forgive everyone who has wronged me in every petty and in every vial way, even to the last of my abusers. Today the power of God's forgiveness has reconciled me to each and everyone of them. That would never have happened without the living God loving me so intentionally as to intervene and save a life, my life. For that I am eternally grateful.

Now you know a little bit more about me and my story. I cannot express enough the importance of forgiveness and the role it plays in our lives. You are free to forgive totally when you ask to see others from God's perspective. God had to show me that He had already forgiven my perpetrators for the wrong things they had done to me before I could forgive them myself. Asking God for His perspective is life changing.

May God's love touch your heart today. I encourage you to take some time to talk with God and let Him carry your wounded heart to the cross where you can unload your burdens and standup tall again, forgiven... completely forgiven and free to forgive others like He does. It will rock your world to live in the perspective of God. Why not start today? If you have any questions about what I have shared with you here feel free to flickr mail me. This is my testimony, my story to freedom, and God is the one who broke off all of my chains! He will do the same for you too!

Resting in God's amazing grip of grace,

Peter

P.S. ~ God is no respecter of persons. Come to Him just as you are with whatever labels you have taken upon yourself and His love will remove them all. These are some of the labels God has removed from my life: REJECTED, UN-LOVEABLE, WORTHLESS, BROKEN, ABUSE-ABLE , DESPISED, UNWORTHY OF KINDNESS, A FAILURE, UNREDEEMABLE, UNFORGIVABLE, A WAIST OF SPACE, REJECT-ABLE, RETARDED, STUPID, UNLOVELY, UGLY, FAT, UNWANTED, IDIOT, HOPELESS, SOCIAL OUTCAST, FOOL, NEVER WILL BE SUCCESSFUL, MISUNDERSTOOD, and several more. Nobody deserves to live with such negative and destructive labels hanging over their lives. God does not believe those things about us, so why should we?

Takayama (高山市 Takayama-shi) is a city located in Gifu, Japan. The high altitude and separation from other areas of Japan kept the area fairly isolated, allowing Takayama to develop its own culture over about a 300-year period. Takayama, with its picturesque mountain location, cold weather, top quality rice and pure mountain water, produces some of the best-tasting sake in Japan. This area has been famous for its sake production for over 400 years, with around 56 breweries at one time during the Edo Period (1603-1868). There are now six local traditional sake breweries still in operation scattered around the historic old town that offer you the chance to tour their facilities in winter and even indulge in some sake tasting. The old part of town is called Sanmachi Suji and is a collection of three narrow lanes lined with Edo Period merchant houses. Here you will find the six traditional local sake breweries Hirata (平田), Harada (原田), Kawashiri (川尻), Niki (二木), Hirase (平瀬) and Tanabe (田邊). They are easily recognizable with their sugidama (special balls made of cedar branches), hanging over the entrance and traditional sakadaru (sake barrels) out the front. The sugidama cedar balls are an indication to how the sake is maturing. A green cedar ball indicates that the sake has just been freshly made, while a brown cedar ball indicates that the sake has matured and is now ready to be consumed.

Congregation of the School Sisters of III. Order of St. Francis

Chronology - chronological table and life of the foundress

On 23 June 1697, the foundress of Hallein (Salzburg), Vienna-Erdberger and Amstettner (Lower Austria) school sisters, Theresa Zechner, is born in Hallein.

By the age of 24 years, she enters the III. Order of Saint Francis and receives the name of Sister M. Hyazintha. Together with her mother and a like-minded acquaintance they take care to those girls from a poor background who have no fixed home and must get through by begging or theft. They teach them free of charge in arithmetic, writing, reading and the manual skills of sewing.

The very talented Theresa follows a different path than the scetched out for her on the basis of her origins - her parents and the relatives belong to the richest and most distinguished citizens of Hallein. The radical step to a life in concrete poverty she brings about consciously and purposefully. Decisive role models for the new way of life are the Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia.

Until 1744 join another five like-minded people the community, but with their new "private" school the sisters experience various hostilities from the school upholders of the other schools in Hallein.

1750, the sister community is dissolved by the ecclesiastical authorities. However, the school activities they can continue to pursue. It was not until seven years later, the separation is removed

After the death of the foundress in 1763, the number of sisters oscillates in the next few decades always between eight and ten, however, the number of students is increasing more and more.

The visit of Emperor Franz I in 1807 promotes the reputation of the sister community. Only through the adjudication of the public status is the existence of the Institute of the (Regelschwestern) rule Sisters, as they are called by the people, saved as a recognized school for girls. By the financial support of the Empress Karolina Augusta, the first Kinderbewahranstalt (children's home or children keeping institution) is opened in Hallein in the year 1844.

The Empress herself asks 1845 for sisters from Hallein for the soldiers daughters institute she founded in Vienna Erdberg.

Foundation - Erdberger School Sisters

In 1845 begins with the then Superior M. Xaveria Lienbacher and three other sisters from Hallein the founding history of our community of the Erdberger School Sisters, as those come in October to Vienna.

1847 follows the change of cloths from the up till now clothing of Halleiner citizen women into a religious habit. Mother Xaveria Lienbacher is re-elected after the end of her second term to Mother Superior, from now on the first Generaloberin (general mother superior).

From 1845 to 1969 are carried out by the mother house 54 new setting ups of branches in Vienna and Lower Austria. Today of those are still existing Seebenstein in Lower Austria, Vienna-Leopoldstadt (2nd district) and Ober St. Veit (13th District) in Vienna.

Out of the from Vienna in 1852 founded branch Judenau at Tulln emerges an independent autonomous Mother House to Judenau (after the 2nd World War Amstetten), now known as the School Sisters of Amstetten.

From 1931 to 1935 follow four sendings of 21 sisters to the United States.

In the years 1939-1962 25 sisters are sent to Argentina.

Today live altogether 85 sisters in Austria, North and South America.

The spread was very tedious and linked with large difficulties. At the moment of the death of the foundress, there was only a small flock of sisters. Until today, the community has remained a small flock despite great distances of the branches.

Drop out the Background as there is no need to print it

This image comes from an oil painting I made and photographs that I have taken from it. This just looks so pretty to me that I thought I would share. I think it would look great on the front of a Hallmark card particulary... Valentines Day. What do you think?

The grade-separation project of MD 355 over Montrose Road and Randolph Road, which will ultimately extend the new Montrose Parkway into Randolph Road and terminate Montrose Road into a new Park & Ride facility.

We've all faced it and even if we aren't willing to admit it of ourselves, we can at least recall the actions of a child being separated from their mother for that first babysitting experience as having separation anxiety. Whether the separation is for a few moments or longer; whether the separation is by a few blocks, across town, or further; the emotional ties with those we love are strong. I chose a tree red with foliage to express that passion and if you look in the distance you'll see its soul mate yearning too for that bond to be reunited.

Leaving for London on Friday for a week. Anxiety and stress are haunting me this past week, it's been 15 years since I've flown anywhere :(

I listened to the audio version while working - it was just okay.

Bridges connect communities, so there's always been something fascinating to me with how overpasses divide worlds. Here where Highway 101 roars high above Clementsport Road and the West Moose River, there's no intersection or off-ramp. The breathless pace of full-speed traffic and the winding crawl of a rural road exist in perfect separation. You could barely blink while hurtling over, and never notice what lies below. That distancing quality of infrastructure has a pull on me, the long way around to get from one point to the next by motorized transport. Oh, sure, I could mount the slope with a thirty second sprint – but it's ten minutes minimum driving. The need just isn't there for most folks. Though once, I did drop someone on the highway shoulder so he could stumble to a house near below. The chill of concrete calls me, like dead branches, like ice intruding inward. All my most moving beauty is stark.

in the future, beauty is null.

Several months ago I uploaded a version of this shot done in tones of gold/sepia, and decided to also do one in a more stark form of black and white. I've visited this park several times before I was to discover it has quite a history of crime and - shall we say - deviant activities. Such a shame to have a place of such beauty used in that way. Must we always destroy...
