Separation anxiety disorder is a psychological condition in which an individual experiences excessive anxiety regarding separation from home or from people to whom the individual has a strong emotional attachment . It becomes a disorder when the separation reaction becomes strong enough to impair people's ability to conduct their day to day lives and relationships.
Every time I am going from Huangdao to Qingdao city center, my bus just stop in front of this old narrow street full of charm. Stairs in the middle divide the climbing road in to equal parts and the Chinese lanternes on the top add a very special touch. Since the first time I passed by here, I've decided to make a shot there one day. Once I had some time to spend there, I spotted downstair that street and wait for some people to go though it. 10 min after, lucky I was to see not one but an old couple climbing up the street, using each side of the roar and leaving the stairs as an invisible wall between them, or a red line to not cross...

I was looking for an ornate frame to play with in portraits, and some great ladies in my church were quick to find one for me. This is one of the first shots I have taken with it, and it was my daughter who had the great idea to be crawling through it. The end result (as you can see) was excellent. Yet another lesson learned from my children! For those interested in processing technique: I made a virtual copy of the image, and toned it with a Lightroom 4 preset from Nicole Young called "After Sunset". It was great for the mood the frame, deck, and foliage bokeh behind my daughter; not great for skintones. I took the original and the toned virtual copy into Photoshop as layers, masked my daughter out of the toned version, and replaced it with the original shot, retaining natural skin tones and color on my principle subject. This created even more separation from the background, adding dimension.
Technical info: Canon EOS 5D MKII, Super Takumar 150mm f/4, Processed in Adobe Lightroom 4 and Adobe Photoshop CS5.

As with the Constitution, the dreadnought can separate its saucer section in an emergency. However, it can also do so for the sake of gaining a tactical advantage, although this is not recommended. The saucer retains warp capability, and therefore does not have emergency landing legs (the long triangular markings on the Constitution saucer). Alone, the dreadnought saucer retains three phaser banks and the torpedo launchers, so it is at least as capable on its own as the Saladin class destroyer, while the engineering section still has upper and lower phasers.
This is one "corner" of the Abel Tasman National Park in New Zealand. There is a lighthouse at the point, but I thought this view a little below and behind was nicer.

Not sure if this is a high school biology experiment gone awry, or just the smallest roadkill I've ever seen.

Souls that be parted, My Heart is empty, Left a spirit lost, I must walk alone - A first experiment in lighting, balance, colour setup. This years learning subject for me.This is not easy when you are composing a shot, focusing on a target, lighting a scene and balancing that light, from the ambient to the fill and the back light all while being the subject of the image. I will hopefully be able to improve soon with some models allowing me to concentrate on the behind the camera stuff. need to get more flash gel holders as well. #Soul #Alone #Blackness
Separation
Those quiet hours were necessary
to free the poetry
and let it walk again
breathing fresh air
in new scenes and thought
traveling where it may

One can see the tight fit at the front and back edge of the case open up here.
There is some discussion about MacBook gaposis. I thought I'd document mine. The machine has performed perfectly for me for about ten days, so I'm reluctant to take my chances on repair/replacement, but it has noticable gaps in three places: The left and right edges of the keyboard platform, and the top of the screen bezel above the iSight. And I figure that if this is a manufacturing defect, it's better to get in on it early rather than late, before it worsens. So it's shipping back to get checked out.
Saw this billboard while driving today, thought it was funny! of course the billboard picture was photograghed on a beach scene...but what the hell!
I did drink my CORONA and the lime did not have to wait too long to be reunited with it....
This little 1st year cub was definitely feeling "separation anxiety" He was obviously all alone, his mom nowhere to be seen or found. No telling what may have happened to her.
This cub was running up and down the tundra across the river from camp, desperately looking for his mother, sniffing the air, trying to find her scent.
Broke my heart. He did manage to find a dead salmon along the side of the river and hopefully in his short time on earth, he has learned skills he needs to survive the upcoming harsh winter he's about to face.
It was heartbreaking to watch him and not be able to help him. That is the only thing about nature that is hard to take. She can be so harsh and cruel at times.

Taken from the Copper Range Grade looking at the abutments for the Quincy and Torch Lake where it crossed overhead at one time. No rail lines exist in the Copper Country north of Baraga anymore, except for the museum loop in Lake Linden. Years ago, there were places several lines would parallel each other to reach the mines; now nothing. What a difference 100 years makes. Image taken in 1999 and scanned from a slide.
