Decorative features in the Ozone Theatre (former Institute & Town Hall), restored 1993, re-opened as library 14 Feb 1994..

“the remodelling of the old institute building, in front of which two shops are to be erected. Two-dome ceilings are to be put in, and a commodious lounge and dress circle. The floor will be sloped towards the front, where there is to be a massive proscenium. . . On the ground floor the library, subscribers' and public reading rooms will be established. . . The top floor will contain a billiards-room, secretary's office, kitchen, and conveniences, the back portion being a soldiers' hall.” [Advertiser 15 Jul 1929]

“Ozone Theatres Limited . . . at the reconstructed Semaphore Hall last night were treated to four surprises. These were the wonderful transformation that has been effected in the art decoration of the interior of the hall, delightful effect of indirect lighting, general excellence of the programme, and clarity of the voice production by the talkie equipment. Other pleasing features in the new theatre are the comfortable tip seats, with ample room between the rows. . . The art decoration is in Adam and Jacobean style, with a modernistic touch. The proscenium is, indeed, a work of art, and is the original design of Mr Chris A. Smith (architect), as are window and ceiling ornamentations. . . The theatre serves a large and growing district.” [News 10 Dec 1929]

A 6-inch breech-loading gun, originally on HMCS Protector, given to Port Adelaide Council 1913, located at Semaphore until moved to Birkenhead Naval Depot 1998, restored by RAN & Lefevre High School & relocated near Semaphore jetty, unveiled 27 Aug 2018.

“The Naval Department has handed to the Port Adelaide Corporation an obsolete 6-in, B.L. gun, which was taken out of the bows of H.M.A.S. Protector when the structural alterations to the gunboat were effected. The weapon is now being erected on the reserve at Semaphore, close to the beach.” [Register 24 Apr 1913]

“A request has been received by the Port Adelaide Council from the Ex-Naval Men's Association that, the gun from the old warship Protector should be given a more prominent position at Semaphore. It now occupies a corner of Todd Reserve, near the entrance to the jetty, but is partly hidden from view.” [News 9 Oct 1936]

“the gun from the old Protector, the only South Australian warship, will be shifted to a more advantageous position shortly. The Port Adelaide City Council has displayed the gun on Todd Reserve, Semaphore, for many years. Its new site will be between the memorial clock and the Semaphore Jetty.” [News 29 Jul 1939]

“At the Semaphore Jetty the gun of the old H.M.A.S. Protector will be unveiled by Capt. C. J. Clare.” [News 4 Nov 1939]

On 24th August 2006, Barnetby's magnificent array of semaphores still had another ten years of life left in them before they would be swept away by Network Rail.

60 027 approaches Barnetby station with a long rake of 100 ton tanks, heading for one of the nearby Humber refineries.

From what i understand the semaphore/s were removed in 1983.. WHY did i NOT get a picture of the electric Union B semaphore.

11/23/15. well incorrectly stated about Stiles mechanical on a bracket the signal is actually a cantilever with an electric Union Switch and Signal style B with case. an H2 Union dwarf .

Never was a Stiles up there .. i was so sure there was .

But i know for a fact of one Stiles mechanical derail signal

at the Gilmor's siding.
