“There will always be exceptional children like Owen who selflessly help others.

“It’s entirely in keeping with this young man’s personality that his immediate response was to warn others to help carry those who were struggling and enter the water himself. This was incumbent on his selflessness.”

Giving a statement on behalf of the family after the inquest, Ruth Hyde of Broxtowe Borough Council said: “We have the happiest memories of Owen, who was a young, caring, lively and affectionate son of whom we are immensely proud.

“His enthusiasm for life meant he put his heart and soul into everything he did.

“He was sweet, innocent and selfless, and it is consistent with his character that he risked his own life to help save others who got into trouble in the water at Beeston weir.

“Owen tragically lost his own life, but we are so proud of what he did; of the young man that he was; how he lived his life to the full; and how he related to others.

“He was a wonderful son and he will be in our hearts forever.”

Dell EMC Oklahoma City employees recently helped the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma by sorting and packing 54,360 pounds of food into boxes for the one in six Oklahomans living with hunger. The Regional Food Bank brought semi-trucks full of sorting and packing equipment and set-up the Remote Volunteer Experience at the Dell EMC campus to allow employees to volunteer their time without leaving the workplace.

“We are grateful to the Regional Food Bank for bringing their Remote Volunteer Experience to our site so our employees could sort and pack food here at Dell EMC during the workday,” said Scott Haworth, Co-site leader, Dell EMC OKC. “More than 80 percent of our employees give back to the community throughout the year and having the Regional Food Bank come to the site is extremely helpful in creating one more opportunity for those of our employees wishing to give back to the community for a significant amount of time. We are thankful for the increased access to community service this operation brought all of our employees and for the work the Regional Food Bank does in helping fight hunger in Oklahoma.”

More than 160 Dell EMC employees volunteered in two-hour shifts time and helped fill 1,359boxes, enough to fill one and a half semi-trucks.

“We are grateful for Dell EMC OKC for donating their time to pack food for our Oklahoma neighbors experiencing hunger,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “For the past 14 years, Dell has been a valuable partner and we are humbled by their generosity and the selfless spirit they continue to demonstrate.”

For more information about the Regional Food Bank, or to make a donation, call 405-600-3136 or visit regionalfoodbank.org.

Established in 1980, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is the state’s largest hunger-relief organization. Last fiscal year, the nonprofit distributed more than 52 million pounds of food and products through a network of more than 1,300 community-based schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties.

Have you ever given this a thought? After doing a bit of digging and thinking these are the answers I have been able to figure out. Let me know if you have any other thoughts.

Is it a wake up call for the person who rings the bell or for the deity? I guess the bells ringing are to clear and awake the mind who is ringing it and to help one concentrate, the same positive effect that one can achieve by chanting mantras. When a mantra is chanted in rhythmic tone with its ups and downs, it creates a melodious musical effect in the entire body and the organs. This effect could control, normalize or soothe the brain waves, heart beat, blood pressure, cholesterol level etc and activates the brain cells in a positive way. Neurolinguistic effect?

I happened to see a nice explanation given by some one else also. Excerpt: The moment you take off your pair of shoes, one shoe of your ego and other of arguments, you stand beneath a big Bell. You raise your hands to ring it harder so that all senses inside you gets awakened. Vibrations enter your mind and heart. Entire emotions are concentrated with in your eyes and you fold your hands with all selflessness as your personality. You are now ready to see selective God in front of you empowering you with all concerns you had to visit Godhead.

Those who are not able feel the vibrations of ringing bell, they keep banging it. :-)

Radha Krishna’s pure selfless love.

Sri Radha and Sri Krishna reside in the holy lushes of vrindavana along with sakhis. Sri Radhaji is the eternal everlasting beauty and the trinity divine is Sri Krishna. Lord Sri Krishna admires the soul of love with honor and passionate emotions like that of an Alectoris graeca partridge that admires the aura of the moon.

The beauty of Sri Radha is inexpressible in words as it exceeds all the youthful princesses of this universe. She is like a flower bud of beauty emitting light that is protected by lord Sri Krishna like a calyx, which are always together as one soul in two divine forms.

Their selfless love for each other is too pure and divine to be explained in words. The word ‘kama’ has no place in their world of vrindavan. Their endeavors are always for the sake of their behalf rather than for their own pleasure. This pureness in love can only be nurtured by divine Lord Himself. It is thus the whole trinity bows to this selfless love filled relation of Radha and Krishna

Love? Many people has defined love. Is Love a selfless act of giving everything (your thoughts, your feelings, your soul) to the one you love without expecting anything back? Or is Love a selfish act of giving everything and expecting a lot back? Or is Love a middle way between the two?

In my observation Love is a selfless act of giving your everything to the one you love without even expecting anything back.

Parents love there children selflessly without expecting anything back. A moth flies towards the fire or light without thinking about the out come after the rain in the evening. A moth ends up sacrificing its life for the sake of the love. A quail flies towards the moon that she loves without knowing the outcome but she does not give up and keeps trying to get to it. She does not expect anything from the moon but she keeps loving it.

That's my friend is true Love. Love without expecting the other will Love you back and one day you will be successful in giving the ultimate Sacrifice.

My selfless quest continues! Granada is one of the last bastions of free tapas and, apparently, has over 500 bars - possibly urban legend, but I'll accept that figure for now! Herewith continues my attempt to visit and photograph every single bar & cafe.

This is La Ermita. There are a couple of them in Granada but this one has to be in one of the most splendid locations in a splendid city. Bullfighting may not be to your taste; increasingly it's finding less favour in Spain. But you have to admit that this is an amazing space within the walls of the Granada bullring.

So great location, great space and a pretty damn good list of raciones. And, yes, good free tapas with your drinks.

If you'd like an idyllic rural, self-catering holiday within an easy drive of Granada and the Mediterranean coast, consider a stay at the beautiful Los Piedaos: www.holidays-in-southern-spain.com/index.html
