2010 Selfless Senior, Kristy Aldridge, is always willing and able to help those in need. Some of the organizations she volunteers for include the Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum, Roadrunner Food Bank, Watermelon Ranch Animal Rescue and the Army Family Readiness Group. She also is a leader in many school activities, including the Italian Honor Society. “Giving back is such a rewarding experience,” Kristy said. “The different changes you can make and the values you can learn are infinite. It is something that gives your life a greater purpose.”
A Selfless Senior is a student who gives back to her community, who hasn’t been recognized by her high school, who has made a positive impact on others facing difficulties and whose character sets her apart.

Leo and I are looking for pieces of art to fill our new home. We have nothing except a few photos and old college posters. Our only rule is we want to support independent artists, preferably locally, and we have to love the piece.
Leo's long been a skateboarder/surfer/snow boarder/strap crap to feet and hurtle down a hill person. We saw this at a live show the other night and Leo and I both loved it, right away.

Mr. Marcelino Max Aguon of Chalan Kanoa exemplifies selfless dedication to environmental stewardship. From Sugar Dock Beach and Mt. Carmel Cemetery in the south to the natural and historic sites in the north, Mr. Aguon, on his own time, cares for public spaces. Working alone or with friends or community groups, Mr. Aguon hauls trash, plants trees, and quietly tends to some of our most beloved places. He has received accolades from the Commonwealth’s House of Representatives, Beautify CNMI, and the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance. I named him one of our #30EarthMonthHeroes on Twitter and presented him a congressional commendation. Thank you, Mr. Aguon.

After 25 years of service almost evenly split between Active Duty and Reserves, my beautiful wife retired yesterday afternoon. When she was presented her flag, I was lucky enough to catch her knowing look over her shoulder at me. We've talked and dreamed about this day for many years. I love you with all my heart my dear and want to welcome you to the next phase of your life. The kids and I are right here for you, to help you through your transition to being a Civilian. We love you.

APD HONORS OUR SELFLESS VOLUNTEERS #CommunityCommitment
This evening, we honored a special segment of our APD police family at the 36th Annual Volunteer Banquet. Our more than 400 volunteers completed some 36,000 hours of service in 2017. Our volunteers make it possible for our Officers and Career Services personnel to do their jobs efficiently. The sacrifice that our volunteers make on a daily basis is in undoubtedly in furtherance of the Aurora Police Department’s mission and distinctly reflects upon the community which we collectively serve.
We are proud to have such wonderful volunteers as a part of our blue family!

Camp Zama's annual volunteer recognition ceremony hosted by U.S. Army Garrison Japan honored the many volunteers who support and contribute to the community April 21
at the Camp Zama Community Club. The ceremony revealed the youth and adult Outstanding Volunteers of the Year as well as the Outstanding Volunteer Family of the Year.
Yuki Furakawa, nominated by the American Red Cross, was named the Outstanding Volunteer of the year, and Royce Brown, nominated by Boy Scout Troop 34, was named Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year. (U.S. Army photos by Alia Naffouj)
2010 Selfless Senior, Mallory Lenberg, led a student effort to alleviate traffic problems around Volcano Vista. She formed a student group that hosted a community meeting to address the issue, inviting APS administrators and city councilors. She then met with former Mayor Martin Chavez, attended a City Council meeting, went to APS transportation meetings and met with school and district officials. Thanks to her hard work and perseverance, the traffic problem around the school is being addressed. Mallory is dedicated to her school and her peers, always looking for ways to make VVHS a better place for all. But she doesn’t like the limelight, preferring to make her mark in subtle ways.
