Blue Heart Event, is a project whose origin goes back a few years ago, product of my experiences with autistic people in RL.

If Blue Heart Event made someone put their hearts in people with Autism, their needs, their problems ... I feel enormously happy, to have lit that spark. The work continues ... it is HUGE and any help may be imperceptible, but it counts ... and it must be done, in order to generate changes little by little.

Today I want to say THANK YOU, to all the designers, models, bloggers, collaborators ... to all the people that in one way or another united selflessly in this fight. All help is a treasure I will keep in my blue heart.

Happy Valentines Day Everyone! If You have a special someone hold on tight.

If you don't make at least one persons day for Valentines even if it's just a friend.

For the gift of Love has lots of meanings.

And don't mean you have to be "In Love"

To Just spread the Love and It will come back to you 10 times fold

when you least expect it. But never do something nice for

someone expecting something good to happen. The best things

in life are selfless acts. The ones that you don't want anything

back but to see someone happy. I also believe Karma is the

best thing ever in the world. It will come back on you when

you think you're free of something you have done.

Live right, Do right, And in the end it will all turn out right.

All it takes is just a little patience. But it will find you it always does.

Today is Friday the 13th call me weird but I love Friday the 13th.

I don't believe in bad luck. Just things that happen that are bad.

Luck is just a word that is short lived even if you hit a

"lucky" streak. You will find it's just the road in life

you're taking. Each one has a different ending. But none are written

in stone. You are in charge of how you live just like you're in

charge of how you treat people. Nobody "makes"

you do mean things you chose to do them. HAVE A GREAT DAY Xoxo

Thank you for watching over me

All of the sleepless nights you lay awake

Thank you for knowing when to hold me close

And when to let me go

Thank you for every stepping stone

And for the path that always leads me home

I thank you for the time you took

To see the heart inside of me

You gave me the roots to start this life

And then you gave me wings to fly

And I learned to dream

Because you believed in me

There's no power like it on this earth

No treasure equal to its worth

The gift of a mother's love

Thank you for every sunlit day

That filled the corners of my memory

Thank you for every selfless unsung deed

I know you did for me

Thank you for giving me the choice

To search my soul till I could find my voice

And I thank you for teaching me

To be strong enough to bend

You gave me the roots to start this life

And then you gave me wings to fly

And I learned to dream

Because you believed in me

There's no power like it on this earth

No treasure equal to its worth

The gift of a mother's love

I thank God for a mother's love.

For the beautiful things in life, this symbol in the foreground represents an absolute pursuit of something that should be everlasting. The sharp focus on the small details is also flawless, and the light is with us. It is a very mechanical explanation for something that should always nourish both people involved in a completely selfless way. What is meant is love, and describing it appropriately with words is always very flowery when actively feeling it. I love you, ma cœur Isa ❤️, and being able to experience so much with you and see you happy and content is my goal 😍

Lemme tell you about my best friend, she's selfless and beautiful and all around kind.

She would give you the shirt off her back in a second, and help you fix it when you tore it.

Lemme tell you about my best friend, the girl that stole my heart and helped me put it back together.

The girl who deserves the world but doesn't see it.

We were brought together by fate, two pieces of one person finally together.

Lemme tell you about my best friend, and how much I love her. I love her more than every planet and moon and star, I love her more than every atom and molecule. I love her more than every grain of sand. I will love her till the end of time and then some.

The words “Stand and deliver!” conjure up images of handsome, gallant gentlemen on well-groomed horses, their faces hidden by masks, relieving carriage passengers of their worldly possessions. It’s an idealized image of men who were oftentimes little more than robbers only looking out for themselves, but, oddly, it was an image that many highwaymen achieved even during their own day.For some reason, these men (and, occasionally, women) escaped the stigma that is associated with most criminals, becoming a gallant class of selfless individuals who robbed the rich to give to the poor. Unfortunately, the poor didn’t always figure into the equation.

Veterans are the embodiment of courage and sacrifice, having selflessly served our nation with honor and dedication.

On Veterans Day, we express our deepest gratitude to these heroes, for they have not only served in uniform but continue to inspire us with their strength, resilience, and unwavering love for our country.

This photo is my recreation of the famous V-J Day in Times Square photo. Cla Jones and I worked for a few hours getting the pose right. She had the idea better thought out than I did. Then just as I was going to start adjusting the WL, my BD crashed. Thankfully I got a "test pic" in just before.

Anyway, this photo and others will be on display at the 17th Annual SL Veteran’s Tribute for 2023. The tribute will be open from November 1st through November 15th!

V-J Day in Times Square is a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt that portrays a U.S. Navy sailor embracing and kissing a total stranger[1]—a dental assistant—on Victory over Japan Day ("V-J Day")[2] in New York City's Times Square on August 14, 1945. The photograph was published a week later in Life magazine, among many photographs of celebrations around the United States that were presented in a 12-page section entitled "Victory Celebrations".

Little River, Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee. Out of a lifting mist the water comes down, flanked and studded with perfect greens. It is pulled on a gradual gradient, and leaves a trail with each step, dragging a memory backward. The life of it's flow should be beautiful, but I find it a little cold, a little remote. Looking at the boulders, strewn and fallen in the flow, I think of my journey downriver. They are like pieces of me, broken off with each disappointment, each betrayal along the way. They stand like lessons learned, remnants of selflessness meets selfishness...bad decisions and weakness. They stand as a lesson to make myself harder, even if I don't want to be, because what is true in nature is not always true in me. But being true litters the streambed, back as far as I can see. If each had a name, they would stand as virtues lost, lessons learned. The perfect greens belie a bittersweet place; I'll leave it's beauty for another time.

I'm guilty of fleeing from my 52 weeks of BAM. Posting this self in reflection during a brief moment of bravery.

Good night!

She inspires me to trust openly, to love selflessly, and to desire shamelessly.

We can sit and gaze at it for hours.

It's luminous, it's warm, it's romantic; but most of all it's spiritual. (In what way spiritual? We can't really say, but it is spiritual.) A yellow droplet of light, laced with red, bright-white at the edges, and blue at the core as if dirtied by its contact with the material wick. But we didn't see all those colors until we counted them -- the flame itself is a perfect, integral whole, emanating calm and tranquility.

How, indeed, can something as agitated as the flame radiate such peace? For the flame is a clash of forces pulling in opposite directions. Look closely: see how it strains upward, striving to tear away from the wick which tethers it to the candle or lamp and lose itself in the great expanses of energy that gird the heavens. But look again, and see how it clings to the length of braided cotton that spears its heart and supplies it with the fuel that sustains its luminance and life. Back and forth, up and down it strives, vacillating between being and naught, between presence and oblivion.

"The soul of man is a candle of G-d" (Proverbs 20:27). For the soul of man, too, is a clash of divergent forces and contrary strivings.

We yearn to tear free of our "wick" -- of the body that anchors us to the physical reality and sullies us with physical needs and wants. We strive upwards, yearning to transcend the physical, the human and the particular, and fuse with the universal and the divine. At the same time, we cling to the body, to the bit of matter that sustains us as dynamic and productive participants in G-d's world.

It is this perpetual up-and-down, this incessant vacillation from selfhood to selflessness and back again, that we call life. It is this eternal tension between our desire to escape the physical and our commitment to inhabit it, develop it and sanctify it that makes us spiritual beings.

We can sit and gaze at the flame for hours, because we are gazing at ourselves.

I spotted this beautiful family of Canada Geese & found out that some of these goslings were abandoned so they were adopted by this selfless mama & papa! How wonderful, I've never seen anything like this before!

Intelligent as heck, athletic as can be - kind, generous, selfless, fun loving & enthusiastic, loyal and reliable - successful at all he did . "In AUGUST 2020 we had to say goodbye to one of the most amazing souls to ever walk the face of this earth. Anyone who knows Rod will agree that he had a light in him that burned so bright and brought happiness to everyone around him. He was always someone who would give everything and ask for nothing in return. Rod packed a FULL life in the 35 years he's been with us. A rare type of cancer shortened his life, but with his upbeat attitude and heart of a warrior, plus his friends' support in so many ways, Rod was able to maintain a good quality of life over the last 18 months. Rod's warm memory will live on in each person he touched in the time he was here with us - and we will grin remembering him and the awesome times we shared. We strive to follow him in how he lived life and treated people. A 'mensch'. The world is a dimmer place as we lost one of our brightest stars. Rod will always be with me and I will always be with him. GodSpeed my friend." AMEN.

Wishing all the wonderful, selfless father's of the world a special & love-filled Falther's Day! Remembering my fabulous Dad today & every day, love & miss you so much Papa! My Dad often surprised me with tiny bouquets of the short stemmed roses tied with a ribbon. Such great memories!

The young husky was swimming selflessly in the snow. However, when I turned the camera to him, the husky straighten up and began to pose positively. But he forgot to shake the snow off the tip of his nose... ;-) Such a serious attitude to the art of photography caused a smile from the spectators who saw this scene, but the husky remained unperturbed ;-)

Rus.:

God's Utterance "God’s Work, God's Disposition, and God Himself I" (Part Four)

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/gods-work-gods-dispositio...

Introduction

God’s word in this video are from The Word Appears in the Flesh.

The content of this video:

3. God Makes the Rainbow as a Symbol of His Covenant With Man

Almighty God says, "Even though God made a covenant with mankind using the rainbow, He never told anyone why He did this, why He established this covenant, meaning He never told anybody His real thoughts. This is because there is no one who can comprehend the depth of the love God has for the mankind He created with His own hands, and there is also no one who can appreciate just how much pain His heart suffered when He destroyed humanity. Therefore, even if He tells people how He feels, they cannot undertake this trust. Despite being in pain, He still goes on with the next step of His work. God always gives His best side and the best things to mankind while quietly bearing all the suffering Himself. God never openly discloses these sufferings. Instead, He endures them and waits in silence. God’s endurance is not cold, numb, or helpless, nor is it a sign of weakness. It is that God’s love and essence has always been selfless. This is a natural revelation of His essence and disposition, and a genuine embodiment of God’s identity as the true Creator."

There are a set of tugs that work relentlessly taking rubbish out of the city. They are all called names starting with R. Todays selfless worker is Recovery.

A helicopter conducts an evacuation on the summit of Tryfan and takes off towards the West down the Ogwen Valley.

Taken back in October last Year whilst I was descending Pen Yr Ole Wen. My attention was drawn to the Mountain by the sound of the helicopter hovering around the summit and I managed a couple of shots before the helicopter made off.

It reminded me of my days engaged with Mountain Rescue and meetings at nearby Plas Y Brenin. The work of our Mountain Rescue Teams has increased significantly in recent times and their efforts often go unnoticed. It is often only in the face of tragedy and adversity we remember and fully appreciate their selfless efforts!

I had forgotten about this until I was going through my files and tidying up my images from 2020. I thought a mono conversion suited this better.

Before the month of September ends, i would like to greet a very special Flickr friend @Dia 777 a very (belated at that LOL) Happy Birthday.

Sweetie, you are one of the most inspiring, gracious and selfless woman I have come to know. I count myself lucky that even if we are miles apart we have become friends. You have and will always be a source of strength and inspiration. The simple "how are you?' when I was down was such a great comfort. I am forever grateful. Sending you my tightest hug...and of course Lara blowing kisses to you.

Again belated Happy Birthday Sweetie. :D Have a blast and wishing you happiness and all the best in the world.

This is my last post on this network. Tomorrow my subscription to the pro version ends and I am not going to renew it. A few days ago I decided not to pay to display my work, so I will also disappear from X when my blue label expires, if not before given the controversy that surrounds this other network since a careless child with an adult body put it at his service and that of even more spurious interests. It has been a real pleasure, and an honour, sharing my work for six years with so many virtual friends who have appreciated it selflessly. I say goodbye to you with sincere affection and gratitude. My account will remain open here, as a virtual portfolio, with the captures that the server wants to keep and whose number I do not know, since right now it exceeds the limit stipulated for a regular account. You will find me in other places in the profile @joanlopezphoto. Best wishes for you all, Flickr friends.

The sad effects of the wildfires in Jasper and the rest of the National park.... this view a bit up on Maligne Lake road

Thank you to all first responders who fought to protect Jasper. They worked tirelessly day and night, to protect this community, which to many, is their home. Their selflessness and bravery are truly commendable – we will always remember the extraordinary dedication they displayed during the challenging early days of this wildfire response.

The Jasper fires refer to the devastating Jasper wildfires of July 2024, which destroyed approximately 30% of the townsite, forced the evacuation of 25,000 people for nearly a month, (and continuing) and significantly impacted properties and infrastructure, though critical facilities were saved. Fueled by lightning and extreme drought conditions, the monstrous fire complex generated its own weather and rapidly consumed the area.

Impact:

Approximately 358 buildings, including homes and two churches, were destroyed.

About 25,000 residents and visitors were evacuated.

Critical infrastructure like the hospital and schools remained intact. The wildfire complex created its own weather system with a wall of flame up to 100 meters high.

...................................................

It's dark in the morning. Only the lanterns

The road is illuminated for random travelers.

They burn, and from night to dawn

We are accompanied in the dark of the night.

They stand shivering from the cold,

And they give us light in the pitch darkness

And they also have a lantern soul in them,

Exhausted by hopeless sadness.

There is a lantern, and each of us

He accompanies with secret hope,

That we will come back, and more than once

Let's look at the lantern with a gentle smile.

Admit it to me, at least one of us

Have you ever thought about lanterns?

And he saved us from the darkness more than once,

Indefatigable and so brave.

It's dark in the morning. Only the lanterns

They selflessly illuminate the earth for us,

And what about the lantern in the shower inside

No one will probably ever find out.

this picture is from my old and first babe dslr nikond40x... it's over 2 years old i think...

in the past 2 years i have couple of times came to tweak or post this shot...but i have at the last moments decided the other way...tonight i felt i should ...

I took this shot and couple others in my "dream is destiny" set together...it was a rainy afternoon this life boat was filled with water and the waves/weight made it lean to its left! it was incredible sky full of action... clouds of rage clouds of hope...

if i remember right i used 1 to 2 ND filter to block the light enough to prolong the exposure and obtain a smooth effect

To say that I am made in the image of God is to say that love is the reason for

my existence, for God is love. Love is my true identity.

Selflessness is my true self.

Love is my true character.

Love is my name.

The only destruction is what we cause ourselves...

Okay, so not completely true, but still, we are more influential than we think. The words we say won't destroy our enemies, they will inadvertently destroy our friends. The unrest we take part in will turn into something bigger and more dangerous than we ever suspected. As you can see, we either can be the fireballs that incinerate a society or build it up into a loving environment. So be aware, thoughtful, and selfless. Don't accidentally bring the world to its end.

So, this creation wasn't originally going to be a firestorm, but my previous thing wasn't working well or looking good. So I changed it, and it looked better than I though it would. Unfortunately, the front buildings of the skyline are actually the lamest buildings, they got better as they got further away. Anyway, thanks for looking and God bless!

“TROOPER BRUCE A. HECK

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

On a cold winter night, on January 10, 1997, Alaska State Trooper Bruce Heck gave his life in the line of duty near this

location.

While on duty in the area of mile 157.9 of the Glenn Highway, Trooper Heck attempted to arrest a suspect who had run into the woods after wrecking a stolen taxicab. In sub-zero temperatures and deep snow, a struggle ensued where the suspect overpowered Trooper Heck and took his life. The suspect, who was arrested by other officers who arrived on scene shortly thereatter, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

In 1999 the Alaska State Legislature designated the Glenn Highway from Mile 128 to Mile 189 as the TROOPER BRUCE A. HECK MEMORIAL CORRIDOR so that his sacrifice will not be forgouten.

This monument is placed in remembrance of Trooper Heck's selfless act of giving his life while protecting the citizens of Alaska.” - Attached plate reads like this

Ruigoord is a village in the Houtrakpolder in the Dutch province of North Holland, situated within the municipality of Amsterdam. Until the 1880s, it was an island in the IJ bay, which was turned into a polder. In the 1960s, the municipality planned to extend the Port of Amsterdam. From 1972 onwards squatters occupied buildings and started a free zone. After resisting eviction in 1997, the area was legalized in 2000. The village is nowadays partially closed in by the port, and lies about 8 km east of Haarlem.

In 1964, plans were drawn up by the municipality of Amsterdam to build the Africa Harbour for the petrochemical industry. The plan included the annexation of 600 hectares (1,500 acres) of land belonging to Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude, including the village of Ruigoord. Amsterdam immediately set out to acquire real estate in and around Ruigoord, and started to prepare the farmland for construction.

In 1972, a group of artists squatted some abandoned houses. In 1973, Frank IJsselmuiden became mayor of Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude, and wanted to put the annexation to a vote. The same evening, he received a call from Ferdinand Kranenburg, the Queen's Commissioner of North Holland who told him hat annexation was a done deal and not open for discussion. A lengthy legal battle between Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude on the one hand, and Amsterdam and the Province of North Holland on the other hand commenced. For strategic reasons, the squatters were encouraged to settle in Ruigoord.

The village was scheduled to be demolished on 23 July 1973. On Sunday 22 July 1973, the local priest performed his last mass and handed the keys of the church to the squatters. The next day, the road to the village was barricaded, and the squatters led by Hans Plomp and Gerben Hellinga successfully managed to stop the demolition crew. The 1973 oil crisis further complicated the Africa Harbour project.

Ruigoord became a free zone and started to attract artists like Simon Vinkenoog. It also became known for its drugs. In 1984, Haarlemmerliede en Spaarnwoude tried to change the village into a "green zone" where industry is not allowed, but the plans were blocked by the Province. In November 1995, mayor IJsselmuiden accepted an offer to become mayor of Edam-Volendam. His main reason for resigning was the tiresome 22-year legal battle with Amsterdam.

On 1 January 1997, Amsterdam annexed Ruigoord. The squatters decided to continue their fight against the harbour, and started the Groenoord plan to turn the village into an ecological zone. On 7 October 1997, 200 policemen of the Mobiele Eenheid, the Dutch riot squat, were sent into Ruigoord to remove the squatters. The entire area, except for the village, was flattened and prepared for construction by the Port of Amsterdam. The legal battle advanced all the way to Court of Justice of the European Union.

In 2000, a compromise was reached. The village of Ruigoord was allowed to exist as an enclave within the harbour. Initially, Amsterdam did not want to allow residency in the village.

Current situation:

Ruigoord as an enclave in the harbour.

Ruigoord exists as a squatted zone to this day, but it is now legalized. Full moon parties are regularly organised in the formerly Roman Catholic village church and every year there is the Landjuweel (Land Jewel) festival in August.

Since the early 2000s, the village has staged an annual poetry festival over the Whitsun weekend, Vurige tongen (Fiery Tongues). One of the festival's three days is always devoted to international poets. From 2003 on, a yearly Ruigoord Trophy has been awarded to individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to maintaining the village as an important cultural stronghold. The first such trophy was presented to Simon Vinkenoog. Three notable non-Dutch trophy holders are the late American poet and photographer Ira Cohen, the Canada-born writer Jordan Zinovich, and the Amsterdam-based American poet and writer Eddie Woods.

K is for Kindness

A selfless act of grace,

Spread it all around you

As you rove about in space.

It doesn't take much effort

It's a simple thing to do,

And you'll find when you give kindness

That it comes right back to you!

A dear friend of my wife and I runs a nonprofit/unaffiliated organization that offers assistance to single parents.

The selfless love, dedication, hope and direction she offers to those in need is inspiring. I sent her this print to hang on the wall at her place "choices".

This gorgeous Maple slab was an Easter gift to me from my daughter which she discovered last week on a daily neighborhood walk with her dog! She texted me a photo of the slab and immediately I said, "I WANT THAT" . . . and so, a few days later, she happened to see the owner of the fallen tree, and mentioned this piece to him. He was OVERJOYED at her interest, and offered to personally deliver it to her home, as the piece was much too heavy to carry! To me this was another one of my familiar *serendipitous* moments, meant to be, especially on this Easter weekend!

"Only those who have learned the power

of sincere and selfless contribution

experience life's deepest joy:

true fulfillment."

~ Tony Robbins ~

"People who achieve the highest levels of success

- whether in business or in raising families or simply in discovering fulfillment and satisfaction and purpose in life

- are those who place their focus on other people rather than themselves."

~ Richard M. DeVos ~

From Google:

"Spalted maple, known for its unique and intricate fungal patterns, can be seen as a symbol of transformation and the beauty of nature's imperfections. While it signifies a form of decay, the striking visual characteristics make it a coveted material for woodworkers, who often appreciate it for its visual appeal and the unique stories it tells.

Maple trees symbolize various concepts in different cultures, primarily representing balance, promise, and practicality. Here are some common interpretations:

Strength and Endurance: The maple tree is known for its hardiness and longevity, symbolizing resilience and strength.

Balance: The symmetrical shape of the maple leaf is often associated with balance and harmony.

Transformation: In the fall, maple trees exhibit vibrant colors, symbolizing change and transformation.

Canadian Identity: The maple leaf is a national symbol of Canada, representing unity and pride.

Sweetness and Abundance: Maple syrup, derived from the tree, symbolizes sweetness and the rewards of hard work.

These meanings can vary based on cultural context, but the overarching themes often relate to strength, beauty, and transformation."

Canadian Pacific's locomotive 6644, is specially painted to honor the troops and aircraft that stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, busting through Hitler's "Atlantic Wall" on June 6, 1944. This would quickly mean the downfall of the Nazi occupation. The alternating black and white stripes on the locomotive are like those painted on the Allied aircraft for a quick identification between friend and foe during the invasion. It has been eighty years ago today, when the selfless troops stormed he beaches of Normandy, so the world could live in peace. I thank them, every single one that gave the ultimate sacrifice along with the fewer than 1% still alive, for their courage to protect freedom. Thank You!

AN AFFIRMATION OF SELFLESS LOYALTY

My fearless heart

Of diamond clarity

Where expression and thought

Are proof of your bravery, justice and swiftness

That cut through ignorance and malcontent

To reveal the pristine awareness of being

Where the freedom of the mind

Is like the sweet chorus of the birds

Sometimes the reinforcement of gracious qualities and love can be a good thing.

So I decided to start an Album on Flickr doing just that.

I like to take shots of the things I have collected over the years that are sharing their presence with me in my home.

Some of my Grail shots have this quality, but often the poem ends up being longer than an affirmation, to me they end up more like a prayer. You can see the Album that contains those works in my Flickr account as well.

But in a sense this is the same principle, as the things I have collected over the years often have a sacred presence or meaning, so I thought I would start to share them here.

On rainy days or when I am not in a writing mood, it is good to still keep working, using the camera in this way, and it is not only enjoyable, it is an opportunity to appreciate these wonderful sacred items and sculptures all over again, and listen to what they have to say.

This Garuda is a modern piece, but the history, energy and protective instinct is the same as from his first incarnation.

This shot is from where he resides, in my glass cabinet, where I keep many other precious things..

There will always be a better tomorrow because of all the selfless sacrifices that were made by all the veterans who fought & died for us! Thank you for all you did & all you do!

"All this is flashy rhetoric about loving you.

I never had a selfless thought since I was born.

I am mercenary and self-seeking through and through:

I want God, you, all friends, merely to serve my turn.

Peace, re-assurance, pleasure, are the goals I seek,

I cannot crawl one inch outside my proper skin:

I talk of love --a scholar's parrot may talk Greek--

But, self-imprisoned, always end where I begin.

Only that now you have taught me (but how late) my lack.

I see the chasm. And everything you are was making

My heart into a bridge by which I might get back

From exile, and grow man. And now the bridge is breaking.

For this I bless you as the ruin falls. The pains

You give me are more precious than all other gains. "

Thank you to those who serve and save others selflessly. We need more firefighters and fewer fire starters in this world.

PS I wanted this to be a more dramatic scene with smoke and fire and rescue but this was the best I could do for today.

As Remembrance Sunday approaches. Battle of Britain Memorial, dedicated to the heroic and selfless deeds who fought the Battle of Britain, 10th July to 31st October 1940.

My selfless devotion to rooting out the truth about the invasion of Earth from beings from another planet has once again been justified as I have no doubt that I've discovered their landing ships turned living quarters that they dwell in as they adapt to our atmosphere and gravity. These 'comfort stations' found on Coney Island will surely be appearing in heavily populated areas near you. Keep on the lookout and notify your local S.I.M.P.L.E. (Space Invaders Monitoring and Protective League Entente) should you encounter these sinister structures or anything with these strange alien markings. I'm going in for a closer look, if you don't hear back from me it's been swell kids.

HSS! :-)

This beautiful Cardinal is a regular visitor to my garden, going to the feeders for seeds. Her mate also visits, but is a little more cautious! Let's remember all the brave & selfless Veterans on this special day!

The Hall of Names at Yad Vashem is the Jewish People’s memorial to each and every Jew who perished in the Holocaust – a place where they may be commemorated for generations to come.

The main circular hall houses the extensive collection of “Pages of Testimony” – short biographies of each Holocaust victim. Over two million Pages are stored in the circular repository around the outer edge of the Hall, with room for six million in all.

The ceiling of the Hall is composed of a ten-meter high cone reaching skywards, displaying 600 photographs and fragments of Pages of Testimony. This exhibit represents a fraction of the murdered six million men, women and children from the diverse Jewish world destroyed by the Nazis and their accomplices. The victims’ portraits are reflected in water at the base of an opposing cone carved out of the mountain’s bedrock.

At the far end of the Hall is a glass screen onto which Pages of Testimony are projected. From here one may enter a computer center and search the Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names, with the assistance of the Hall of Names staff. The Center also offers blank Pages of Testimony and survivor registration forms.

The Hall of Names was planned and designed by architect Moshe Safdie and designer Dorit Harel together with the Hall of Names' staff.

Yad Vashem (Hebrew: יָד וַשֵׁם; literally, "a monument and a name") is Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. It is dedicated to preserving the memory of the dead, to honoring Jews who fought against their Nazi German oppressors and Gentiles who selflessly aided Jews in need and to researching the phenomenon of the Holocaust in particular and genocide in general, with the aim of avoiding such events in the future.

Established in 1953, Yad Vashem is on the western slope of Mount Herzl, also known as the Mount of Remembrance, a height in western Jerusalem, 804 meters (2,638 ft) above sea level and adjacent to the Jerusalem Forest. The memorial consists of a 180-dunam (18.0 ha; 44.5-acre) complex containing two types of facilities: some dedicated to the scientific study of the Holocaust and genocide in general, and memorials and museums catering to the needs of the larger public. Among the former there are a research institute with archives, a library, a publishing house, and an educational center, and the International School/Institute for Holocaust Studies; among the latter, the Holocaust History Museum, memorial sites such as the Children's Memorial and the Hall of Remembrance, the Museum of Holocaust Art, sculptures, outdoor commemorative sites such as the Valley of the Communities, and a synagogue.

A core goal of Yad Vashem's founders was to recognize non-Jews who, at personal risk and without a financial or evangelistic motive, chose to save Jews from the ongoing genocide during the Holocaust. Those recognized by Israel as Righteous Among the Nations are honored in a section of Yad Vashem known as the Garden of the Righteous Among the Nations.

Yad Vashem is the second-most-visited Israeli tourist site, after the Western Wall, with approximately one million visitors each year. It does not charge any fee for admission.
