I thought I was dying my hair neon troll orange but it came out looking very adult. I like it anyway.
Do not ask me how I did this selfie. Believe me, a self-portrait on a large format camera is very difficult.

Scott takes a self portrait on the sand dunes of Lancelin. In a day and age when digital photography is the recipient of rather bad press from those who wish to remain true to the medium of photography, it was very heartening to meet a professional photographer who had so completely embraced digital photography - and could see fun in letting loose with digital. Noting that I was very conservative with my shots (I'm a bit old skool :-) ), Scott advised that I should put my camera in burst mode and shoot shoot shoot like there's no tomorrow. Don't be afraid of taking more than one frame of your subject - don't let the moment pass. Spoken like a true sports photographer, Scott!
It's just a decorative handle, but wouldn't a women's clutch with built in brass knuckles be a brilliant idea?

I'm going to be doing my first family portrait session tomorrow. So, I woke up early today around the time I know I will be shooting tomorrow, in order to deal with the kind of light I will be dealing with. I'm pretty happy with the light going on in this one, so it'll probably be what I use. The big challenge will be the young child that will be present, because I need to capture some individual shots of her as well. But, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to manage with this setup... hopefully that is true, and hopefully the light quality is somewhere close to what it is in this image.

This self portrait was taken a few years back when I was still in college at UT. Austin’s a great town, but any city has a way of making you feel lost. Of course, the stress of college classes, roommates and financial troubles didn’t help much either.
So every few months, I’d hit the road. With the top down and the tank full, I’d head out west, usually along Highway 71. The road curves and cuts its way through the heart of Texas hillcountry, and it only ever asks you to stop for fresh fruit on the roadside or a rest stop overlooking a small stream in a big valley.
After a while, the road would take me right up to the south end of Llano. A left turn, and a few more miles, and I’d find myself at the entrance to one of the greatest parks in the state. Enchanted Rock has always been a place for peaceful meditation, and I regret not being able to take the trip more often.
This self-portrait was taken at the end of a long day of hiking, over the pools at the top of Enchanted Rock itself.
Worn out from the hike, I’d head back the way I came, stopping in Llano for some legendary BBQ at Cooper’s. It was usually well past dark by the time I got back onto 71, and about midnight by the time I got back to my apartment in Austin, but I can’t ever remember feeling more refreshed. I do miss it.
Things are good lately :) Real good. Christmas was amazinggggg! My boyfriend's mom and aunt got me that scarf and matching gloves, and I love them! And my parents got me a new light stand and reflective umbrella! I took some self portraits tonight as test shots with my two umbrellas and flashes and I lovelovelove it! Before I was only using one flash with one umbrella and stand but now that I have two it makes such a big difference :D
Okay so, I'm stoked about the new year. I have a feeling it'll be a really good one :) I've decided I'm going to do a 365 this year. I've wanted to for awhile now, but I really didn't want to do it beginning in the middle of the year, so 2010 will be my fresh start :D
I really enjoyed the challenge this year although there were a few weeks when I couldn't post anything because I was traveling, work commitments or family had descended. This challenge has helped me improve so much - I had my first paying gig last June when I photographed a wedding. A few years ago I never would have had the confidence or skill level to pull that off. Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement. I believe I have made some lifelong friends here!
This is Bella's attempt at a self portrait. This is her last week of being 3, I'm just happy she is smiling :-)
Decided to load up the dog and some masks and take a Memorial weekend road trip to Central Oregon. I took lots of self portraits, balancing the camera on whatever I could find. Have bought a tripod since then :)
So I realized today how little actual studio portrait photos I have and.. I wanted to do a couple today just so if anyone ever decides to consider me for portraits they wont have only fine art to look at. (:
So, here it is.
btw, I love that red material as a backdrop SO MUCH. ♥

I was rotating the camera during expo in front of the mirror.
Camera rotates the same way as the sensor, so in reality what is moving is still and what is still is moving :)
