This was captured during a great Sunset with different cloud formations, i simply just had to stare at them, so this is me watching the clouds which i do everytime i step outside my door.
I recently felt challenged by other photographers to practice self-portraiture. It's something I've always admired in others' work, but despised doing myself. And yet, I know that it is what I need to push me out of my comfort zone.

Summer 2011. Polaroid Land Camera. from a pile of old polaroids I finally decided to scan in. This was from the first roll of land camera film I ever experimented with.

I finally made it out after about 6 mos to take more self portraits. I can't believe it's been so long. I will not go that long again. It's a sort of therapy for me.

Camera used was a Polaroid SX-70 Sonar on tripod and a 2 meter DIY Polaroid Remote Shutter Button and the Flash Bar 2 by Mint.

Strobist setup:
Above camera: 580EX II at 1/4 power with Lastolite Ezybox Hotshoe 60x60 angled 45 degrees downwards.
Camera right: 430EX through an umbrella softbox at 1/8 power.
Fill light behind me / on background by a WF SLS-006S wide angle mini slave.
I also used a silver reflector below my face for extra catchlight and light bounce.
Triggered with Canon ST-E2 using Canon RC-1, Canon 5D Mark II, Canon EF 24-70/2,8 L USM at 70 mm.
1/200 sec at f / 9.0, ISO 100.

Tamerza is the largest mountain oasis of Tunisia. It lies in the mountains north of the salt lakes, and receives water from springs in the barren mountain. Spectacular effects between dead and living nature makes the area a gem.
Alright, first photo of a month full of photos! Self portraits have always been both my weak spot in photography and something I've wanted to improve, because who doesn't want nice photos of themselves, right? :P
I'm hoping that this experiment will help me improve my skill and technical knowledge of photography, improve my ability to pose and make facial expressions in photos that are flattering (because I am just the queen of awkward smiles and bleh faces, dear lord!), and obviously improve my ability to take self portraits.
I regret being lazy today and not putting on makeup until late in the day, I've missed the time to use natural light because of this. But it turned out alright, I think. I had to go back to improve my makeup after taking a few shots because I tend to rush my makeup and it still looks okay, but it looks better with a little more time put into it.
I don't know if I'm gonna do a mini blog like this each day of taking photos, but I think it's important to chart my thoughts at the time of taking the self portrait as another way to 'chart' my process.
I'm starting to experiment with strobes. Lighting with a diffused 48" octabox on an Explor 600 pro. I've got a long ways to go.
