Altes Museum (English: Old Museum) is a listed building on Museum Island in the historic centre of Berlin. Built from 1825 to 1830 by order of King Frederick William III of Prussia according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, it is considered a major work of German neoclassical architecture.
The idea of the museum dates back to Germany's bourgeoisie becoming increasingly self-aware and self-confident in the early nineteenth century, It began to embrace new ideas regarding the relationship between itself and the arts, and the concepts that art should be open to the public and that citizens should have access to a comprehensive cultural education began to permeate society. King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia was a strong proponent of this Humboldtian ideal of education and charged Karl Friedrich Schinkel with planning a public museum for the royal art collection.
Schinkel's plans for the Königliches (Royal) Museum, as it was then known, were also influenced by drafts of the crown prince, later King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, who desired a building that was heavily influenced by antiquity. The crown prince even sent Schinkel a pencil sketch of a large hall adorned with a classical portico.
Schinkel's plans incorporated the Königliches Museum into an ensemble of buildings which surround the Berliner Lustgarten (pleasure garden). The Stadtschloss in the south was a symbol of worldly power, the Zeughaus in the west represented military might, and the Berliner Dom in the east was the embodiment of divine authority. The museum to the north of the garden, which was to provide for the education of the people stood as a symbol for science and art.
The Altes Museum was originally constructed to house all of the city's collections of fine arts, including paintings, prints and drawings. However, since 1904, the museum has solely housed the Antikensammlung (Collection of Classical Antiquities).
Caelys (JID I IpleHouse) and Hazel (Raspberry Asella's Dolls) are half-sisters. The older is determinded, free-spirit and self-confident, the younger is shy, dreamy and introvert. They only have got their father in common, but they share a strong love for each other ^^

A self-confident woman... in my latest photo I'm wearing my new flowered dress with a stand-up collar. In addition gray pantyhose with white dots and brown leather boots.
My friend Madonna Hamel has quite a resumé. A performance artist and collage artist with many shows and exhibitions to her credit, in addition she is or has been a songwriter, a backup singer in a touring blues band, a published poet, book reviewer, newspaper columnist, and award winning CBC radio documentary producer. Currently she's working on a novel set on the Canadian prairie in the 1890s (and earlier, and later - I think).
I have been documenting her work since 2014, when she arrived in Val Marie to spend a little time in the village and area where her mother grew up. Funny how this place draws people in. On this particular day, five years ago, she wanted a photo of herself based on Jean-François Millet's 1857 painting, The Gleaners, to be used on a poster promoting a one-woman show written and performed by Madonna. We drove out to a wheat field - not hard to find in these parts. She was dressed in peasant garb. We set up the shots and they were fine.
Then she put a coat on over the costume, and we shot a few dozen spontaneous outdoor informal portraits, which neither of us liked very much. And so they sat in a folder for five years.
Recently I revisited the folder and found one that we both like. What Mado saw as arrogant five years ago now appears self-confident. Covid restrictions have been tough on artists, especially those who perform in front of live audiences. A lot of gigs have disappeared into the void. In spite of this, she keeps working, because work is what she does. A year ago she won first place for creative non-fiction in Prairie Fire magazine's annual contest. It isn't easy to win a literary prize; you have to be good. Well... she's really good.
I've often said that I think of people as just another wildlife species, with their own unique challenges and rewards. This is the first of three "portraits of the artist" I will post before moving on to other species.

Near Castle Arcade, on Castle Street, Cardiff (Caerdydd), Wales (Cymru), United Kingdom, on Saturday 17th of June 2023.
About the photograph.
The photo was taken on Castle Street, about half-way between the junctions of High Street and Womanby Street. This location is very near the Revolution restaurant and the Castle Arcade.
This was at the front of the parade, and those girls were doing a dance, while the parade was getting ready. I took some captures, and figured this one would look good in black and white for a dramatic feel.
Couldn’t think of a better title for this, so figured I’ll call this “Front Dancers.”
When I was a teenager attending college, I did a photojournalism kind of photography of students going on a march, in protest. Since then, I haven’t done anything like that, mainly due to the difficulties with my life, and later being a busy single parent.
Since 2020, with the kids now living independent, I decided to get back into doing photography, and this is my fourth attempt at photojournalism photography. I’ve been trying to rebuild my self-confident, and need to refresh my skills.
So this may have been 4th or 5th attempt at photojournalism, and my second Pride parade (the first one was in Bristol). When the parade started, I’ve been busy taking so many shots during the hot weather, and I ended up with a sunburn.
About the event.
Pride Cymru was previously called Cardiff Mardi Gras when it was formed in September 1999. It held annual festival in Bute Park. It became a registered charity in 2010, and starting from 2012, they held a parade through the city centre.
In 2014, Cardiff Mardi Gras was renamed to Pride Cymru, and had operated under the new name ever since the change of name.
Pride Cymru is in reality a weekend event, often called Pride Cymru Big Weekend, and attracts up to 50,000 people over the three days, with Saturdays having the parade through the city centre.
The route for the parade is approximately about more or less one mile in length, and would take anyone approximately up to an hour to complete the route.
Because I was doing photojournalism, trying to find interesting shots, therefore I often sometimes walk back and forth, up and down the parade, so it would take me about a couple of hours to do the photo-shoot.
That day was a very hot and strong sunny day, and I some sunburn.

The CAF Wasp Squadron operates the AT-6 Nella. Pictured here at the New Century Air Center in Gardner Kansas during the Air Power History Tour.
Nella appears as part of the Air Power History Tour and attends WASP Homecoming in Sweetwater, TX where she trained Wasp cadets from June 1943 until December 1944 and appears when able at special events. She offers rides as well as training time for those qualified.
The Squadron Education efforts include presentations, history recaps and classes as well as event appearances, following a Curriculum based on the SPUNKY guidelines for success.
She Tours with the Air Power History Tour, often parked next to the B-29 “Fifi”, making a visual representation of the WASP mascot , a female gremlin named “Fifinella”
The CAF WASP Squadron are CAF members that drive education using a three-tiered approach to inspire, aspire and mentor, focused on the WASP Guiding Principles: “be SPUNKY” – Be Self Confident, Be Positive, Be Unstoppable, Be Nice, Be Knowledgeable and Be Yourself. The Squadron creates and implements educational programs focused on the WASP Guiding Principles, in support of education efforts surrounding Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and historical events honoring veterans.

Repacked parachutes every 6 months

Wing walk tape every 2 years
Aging radios
Missing (permanently borrowed) or staticy headsets
ADS-B mandated by FAA
Instruments: upgrade for Digital Touch replacing heavier vacuum models
Refurbishing those that are cloudy or non/performing
Replace all lights with LED’s for longevity and brightness
Seats – cushioning and cover material
In addition, she has had several extensive restorations that have been funded by many generous supporters.
The Squadron appreciates and is grateful to all who treasure and provide for Nella’s ongoing pristine condition. In addition to the maintenance restoration, a portion of Nella’s revenue must be set aside to cover the next engine overhaul, which will approach $100,000.

"Jaunty" and "genteel" are related - Both words evolved from the French word gentil, which carried the sense of "noble." At first "jaunty" was used, like "genteel," for things aristocratic, but as the years went by people stopped using it that way. Today "jaunty" is used to describe things that are lively and perky - not things that are aristocratic and elegant - and the only remaining clue to its noble origin is in its pronunciation.

The Caucasian Shepherd dog is a serious guardian breed and should never be taken lightly. Fynn has the most innocent expression of all my cats although he is the one who causes more trouble than anybody else. He is curious, self-confident, tough, stubborn and has what a friend of mine has recently called a 'street warrior mentality'. Hard to believe when you look at this face. :) But of course he is also affectionate, sweet, charming, funny and playful. He is just Fynn.

[id] double portrays the dichotomy between her public role and her excessive desire to not unveil herself intimately. Woman solo choreographed by a man, [id] double testifies with precision, strength and humanity, of the battle she is engaging, striving to dissimulate her real personality behind this stage mask. For this duel, the choreographer was inspired at first by the life of the famous Maria Callas, before understanding that every artist is confronted to the same idea. [id] double transgresses the double identity of the woman and the artist – First, the dancer in her heals and unitard appears as the audience sees her; glorified and mystified in this costume, a second skin in which she can blend. When she reaches the floor, without heals, leaving her black envelop to slip in her immaculate dress, she then has no choice but reveal herself truly as a woman.
