You see a lot of both on Kansas City's Country Club Plaza, THE upscale shopping and dining district for this little backwoods outpost on the edge of the Great Plains.
This photo was taken after I had dropped by the Fall Harvest conference up the street, a TG event that returned to KC after a long absence. I had an interesting conversation there with a post-op woman who was a big part of the event back in the early 1990's. I mentioned how I had dreamed at the time of getting to attend one of these events, and felt if I could ever do that just once, I could be content. Doing something like that just seemed so daunting at the time. Enjoying an evening out in the ritzy Plaza district was not even on the radar, totally impossible it seemed.
Well fast-forward about 15 years. The TG event was nice, and I'm glad I dropped by for a while. The person who organized the event put her heart and soul into it and did a fabulous job. And it appeared that all who attended were enjoying themselves. These events truly are a great way to take that first step out and to build one's confidence and I would encourage anyone wanting to take that first step out to attend one. I have little doubt if I had taken that route in the mid 90's I would not have spent another 7 or so years in the closet.
That said, I know the road I ended up taking made me more independent and self-confident. I had a lot of fun going out to dinner with friends in Westport before the event and having drinks and window shopping on the Plaza after I left it. The big event I had dreamed of so many years before, well not so much. Pretty ironic.
Animal rights activists don't fret, the fur is faux (as is the girl unfortunately).

I saw the Rainbow Lorikeet often while traveling along the east coast of Australia. It is a bold, self-confident bird that feeds on flowers and nectar. If I didn't know better, I might think this particular bird was actually posing for its picture. I must confess this lorikeet is one of my all time favorite birds as I cannot resist the beautiful coloring and outgoing personality.
This small litte pony was quite sure that there's no difference to any other horse. It was so self confident and happy. A joy to watch this little wild thing!

The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is lively, agile, self-confident, good-natured and alert. The breed is faithful, easy-going and friendly in the home. Outdoors he is a true sporting dog being keen, swift, tough, attentive and energetic. With sufficient perseverance and stamina, he enjoys working and does so with a cheerful character.
I may read a little too much into this - and thereby flatter myself - but I think at this moment the lynx seemed rather curious and cautious than self-confident and brave, as though he wasn't sure whether or not he should come any closer. But then again, maybe he was only trying to tell me that it was high time I trimmed my beard again. :o)

The signification of a wolf is in a similar category to that of a lion, also a rapacious animal, concerning which also it is said that it seizeth the rapine, gathereth spoil, and preyeth upon prey, as is here said of a wolf; and yet in a good sense a lion signifies truth in power from good (AC 6367). It is similar with other rapacious beasts, as leopards, eagles, etc.
Time for humanity to wake up from their slumber and search for Truth - do not be seduced by the satanic that has permeated upon humanity for eons.

I went to Monrepos on Friday as it was a lovely sunny day. On my walk around the lake I met pair of Egyptian geese with a gosling, just one. That is very unusual as Egyptian geese normally have between 5 and 10 goslings. The gosling was quite self-confident and curious, s/he came quite close to check me out although the parents were rather nervous.
This is Filou every time he sees Cleo, Sethi or Fynn outside in the garden. He is often a very nervous cat, panics easily and my sister thinks he isn't ready for the big outdoors yet. Maybe he will get more self confident in a while. Self confidence is something Cleo, Fynn, Sethi and even the little Dragon all have in abundance.

Although Tofu loves to be outside he is not really able to relax there, not even in his own garden. There is always something going on and he notices EVERYTHING. He is more self-confident now than when he was younger but he still makes sure that he is always prepared for whatever happens. :)

During the Islamist terrorist attack in downtown Vienna on November 2, when a lone gunman shot four people and injured 23 others before he was shot dead by the police, somebody allegedly shouted out of his window: "Schleich di, du Oaschloch!"
This sentence became a slogan comparable to the slogan "Je suis Charlie" after the 2015 shooting in France, but only in German speaking countries, because it isn't easy to translate it appopriately. "Get lost, asshole" is just a very vague and imprecise translation.
The demand "Schleich di" (literally "Sneak off!") in Bavarian and Austrian German reveals the mentality of this part of German speaking countries. It implies the person addressed isn't welcome here, but it also implies the self-confident, generous proposition to avoid being given a hard time by going away immediately. It implies the feeling of strength and power. The demand itself isn't rude, it only becomes so combined with "Oaschloch". You could say so to a person who's just climbed over your garden fence in order to steal apples from your apple trees. If you say so to a terrorist who shoots people, you show this asshole how small he is.
And of course this sentence is also applicable to assholes like Donald Trump.
This was Charlie Brown at the tender age of about 4 months. He was a very self-confident and curious kitten who more or less owned the place as soon as he moved into my niece's home. When I took this photo we were about to install a cat net on their balcony to allow him to enjoy the outdoors without risk. That is something we will have to do again now as their new apartment has a balcony too which Charlie and his brother Leo will love because it allows them to watch lots of birds.

Our visitor Leo was suprisingly self-confident this time, he seemed to feel at home again immediately. I think he was happy to escape the moving chaos in his own home. On my roof terrace he headed right for the zebra grass which all the cats love. It doesn't look very zebra-esque at the moment as the stripes will only appear in a few months.

Surprise, surprise ... It's only day two and Leo has already decided to give up sulking and enjoy some time outside on the roof terrace instead. He was quite self-confident in fact which was lovely to see. Taking photos of Charlie and Leo remains difficult as it is very hot here again and they mainly go out in the early morning and in the evening. Indoors it's too dark for good photos, especially as I have close the shutters to keep the heat out.
