White Oak, Maple, Walnut and Purple Heart

In THPRD's segment of the Fanno Creek Trail, there is a curve (near the area where they have the concerts in park) that had a hole that's bothered me for some time. It was formed by a park vehicle's tire going off the trail during wet weather and was several inches lower than the trail segment. I've worried about a bike cutting that corner some night and crashing because of it.

Last week, I found myself riding SB on the trail, and encountered a ped who was NB. She saw me, and stepped aside, but I slowed to allow a bike that was behind her to pass before I did. She was startled by the other cyclist's "On your left", and stepped off the trail, rolling her ankle in the hole. I called it in, and the next day showed it to Park's staff. This week, I found the hole had been filled.

I pretty much left one lens on each of my film camera the whole trip. The RB67 got the 50mm lens (which is the only working RB67 lens I've got at the moment) and the TX got the 135mm prime lens.

The Red Rock Canyon California State Park was something we just discovered while we drove through it. I love the shape of the hills. So rumply. So colorful.

A short segment of the Wenis Causeway has been restored with a stone roof. There is a gap running down the middle of the roof to allow light in.

Day 6 random campsite (Segment 20) to random campsite (Segment 21)

The trail eventually drops down to 11,944 feet at San Luis Pass which is the end of Segment 20. The small town of Creede is accessible via a dirt road from here but not easily. It is about 10 miles away.

After the Pass, Segment 21 begins. The trail has a couple of good climbs and nearly reaches 13,000 feet at another saddle (12, 887'). Once again was able to enjoy hiking some 1/2 fish bowls. All of this above treeline.

The Colorado Trail is notorious for afternoon thunderstorms. Typically, it is best to not be caught above treeline for obvious reasons. Fortunately, once again the weather was fantastic with blue skies everywhere. 2 days in a row must be a record for CO.

After a convenient dinner break at Middle Mineral Creek, I began searching for a campsite. I didn't search for long and didn't have far to go to find a decent spot below treeline. 12.9 miles of awesome hiking with spectacular views today.
