I've never noticed the beautiful seed pods of the iris before (by the pond.) They look like polished wood, then split open to reveal dozens of small brown seeds-which also look like shiny wooden bits.

more stuff in the back yard..got some laundry done.

Wild white indigo, a native plant, has really neat seedpods. This was at Native Nursery - I have one but although it flowers, it's growing in too much shade to produce seeds

Poking around my yard the other day, looking for things I could take pictures of. Getting tired of tripod shots...

Interesting looking seeds. Look like some dessert coated with sesame seeds. :P

I am not sure what flower this once was but it left behind a unique skeleton

It's a weed, but I don't know which one. Weird seed pods. Looks likes it's out of an alien movie.

 

A lovely Thursday evening spent out at our friends little farm in Vermilion County. The kids had a fun time swimming in the pond.

less than paper-thin is what is left after Lunaria rediviva has dispersed it's seed.

Made a visit just down our street to see Mr. & Mrs. Howard Johnson. Her flowers and his yard work are always great to see, and offer plenty of photo opportunities. Masca gnia macroptera. Butterfly vine seed pods really do look like butterflies.

These flowers are pot plants that I grow they are really unusual but have an interesting petal behind the seed pod.
