I sprinkled seeds in a bare patch a few weeks ago, and they're growing quite nicely.

This cucumber seedling was one of just 3 from last year's pack that has sprouted. I'm really hoping this little soldier makes it all the way to producing some delicious fruit for us again this year!

I've been tempted to start pulling the volunteers out of our compost

and replanting them around the yard. Our worms bins seem to do a

excellent job of getting regular seedling volunteers. I think we have

a squash and sunflower volunteers here.

Photos from a short trip to Abkhazia

I love this time of year - all the seedlings coming up. I have to go out every evening to patrol for slugs. There's not many but even one can be devastating. Don't ask what I do with them.
