not just any ordinary watermelon, but a hermiston watermelon.
much like my neighbor to the east, walla walla and their namesake onion, the walla walla sweet onion, hermiston, our southern, stateline neighbor has the sweetest, juiciest watermelons.

Golden State Freeway at West Side Freeway, Mettler, California.
A part of California thought devoid of attraction. But those mountains are the Transverse Ranges, which get crossed by this freeway starting at the Grapevine. In them is camping, wilderness hiking, the largest privately-owned nature preserve (Wind Wolves www.wildlandsconservancy.org/preserve_windwolves.html ), and new National Monuments - César Chavez and Carrizo Plain.

A couple of weeks ago my son and I were eating seedless Clementines and came across a couple of seeds. Odd considering I bought seedless. So..... i figured these seeds were meant to be. I got out potting soil and Michael and I planted them. I've been watering them everyday and the dirt has been living happily in my kitchen window. Well, look what happened this week!! Sprouts!!! Either these are weeds that i am lovingly watering everyday or I'm growing a couple of seedy seedless Clementine trees. Only time will tell :-)

Third ATC for the Unity STamp Co. ATC challenge. I started with kraft cs and blended three distress oxide inks: seedless preserves, bundled sage & mermaid lagoon; then spritzed with water & dried. I then stamped the Unity image 'Wishes & Dreams' with Versafine onyx black & clear embossed. The stars (Paper Smooches and Neat & Tangled) were stamped with Versamark ink & gold embossed. I then stamped the fancy arrow (Unity - from a grab bag) with VOB & clear embossed. I trimmed it down just a bit and added it to a purple mat. And to finish, I added the three purple gems (Michaels).

This guy called out to anyone who walked by his stall. When he saw my camera he said, "You want a picture - how about this?" and struck this pose.
