This evening, on 7 December 2020, over 400 delegates, including high-level dignitaries, diplomats, political leaders and women organizations and peacebuilding practitioners from around the world, attended the High-level Opening of the International Conference on Women, Peace and Security entitled Strengthening Women’s Role in Building and Sustaining Peace: from Commitments to Results.

It is a historical, cultural, and very picturesque city founded as the Roman city of Lugdunum, spread out over two hills and two rivers -- the Saône and Rhône.
With side trips to locations as diverse as Paris, Perpignan, Aix-en-Provence, and more, Steve and I aim to get our fill of a country neither of us has seen in a decade, and enjoy the cuisine, culture, language practice, scenery, and generally, la vie quotidienne.

Security was everywhere at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. They're very friendly folk, but they're a bit silly with some of their restrictions, and they're more or less everywhere.
Baghdad, 12 April 2016 - The Implementation and Follow-up Committee on National Reconciliation in collaboration with UNAMI held a two-day workshop on Women, Peace and Security in Baghdad from 11-12 April 2016.
The workshop; the first of its kind following the re-establishment of the Women’s Office in the Implementation and Follow-up Committee on National Reconciliation was aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Committee in implementing that National Action Plan on Security Council Resolution 1325 and was a follow-up on the implementation of the recommendations on national reconciliation and women’s participation provided during the National Conference on ‘Empowering Women to Address the Impact of Terrorism’, held in Erbil from 03-04 August 2015.
Marwan Ali, Director of Political Affairs and Mohammed Salman, Prime Minister Advisor and Head of the Reconciliation Committee opened the workshop.
