Social stigma is severe social disapproval of personal characteristics or beliefs that are perceived to be against cultural norms.
Examples of existing or historical social stigmas include mental illness, physical disabilities and diseases such as leprosy, about which leprosy stigma may also be called, as well as illegitimacy, skin tone or affiliation with a specific nationality, religion (or lack of religion) or being deemed to be or proclaiming oneself to be of a certain ethnicity, in any of a myriad of geopolitical and corresponding sociopolitical contexts in various parts of the world.
The perception or attribution, rightly or wrongly, of criminality carries a strong social stigma.
Stigma comes in three forms:
Firstly, overt or external deformations, such as scars, physical manifestations of anorexia nervosa, leprosy (leprosy stigma), or of a physical disability or social disability, such as obesity. Secondly, deviations in personal traits, including mental illness, drug addiction, alcoholism, and criminal backgrounds are stigmatized in this way. Thirdly, "tribal stigmas" are traits, imagined or real, of ethnic groups, nationalities, or religions that are deemed to constitute a deviation from what is perceived to be the prevailing normative ethnicity, nationality or religion. Stigma is generally based on stereotypical and uninformed impressions or characterizations of a given subject.

Second Norway was a Scandinavian area in Second Life, which was closed down in March 2020. The area was bought by a new landlord who tore down most of old Norway and built new islands. It is still called Second Norway, but they have only saved a tiny part of the center of old Norway and the airport. The rest is completely new and is not at all reminiscent of Norway in any way. Very pity!
Old Norway had a small city center with shops and bars that were mostly run by Norwegians and Swedes.
Note: as i mentioned in an earlier picture, i lived on an island in Second Norway for 5 years before moving to my current location in New England. I did that when Norway was shut down in March 2020.
In this picture i had taken a bike ride into the center on a sunny day in May 2015 with two kittens on my shoulders. We stand outside "Annabella's" clothing store that manufactured and sold fine Norwegian and Swedish folk costumes. Annabella Biedermann was from Munich Germany, but a true friend of Sweden and Norway.
Everything is gone today, both the store and that part of town.
The bike I'm riding is a Chelsea bike, bought from "What Next" the year 2012.

He is so proud and looks so lovely.
