So much has passed before me and so much is yet to be discovered here in Second Life. My loving partner has brought so much joy to me! We travel, we explore, we dance, we dine, we play, we create and we have FUN!
We are researching many sims to help us with resources for our own. My angel brought me to the old Bellagio Gardens sim to look at beautiful trees and platforms for his island sim. Wow! Beautifully done and wonderfully placed, we drifted around looking at all the platforms and trees. Gorgeous!
UPDATE: I made a youtube video using these pics. I am still learning, so it's rough, but I enjoyed making the Rafee & Xavier video.
When Ken & I went down for the second space shuttle Endeavour launch attempt, we had to drive rather than fly. It's a LONG trip from here- about 12 hrs.- so we decided to break up the trip into two days- driving until wewere so exhausted we had to stop. We stayed a a motel in Tallahassee FL and I was SOME surprized when I saw the room number we were given! The Endeavour's mission designation was STS-134!! Seems like an omen to ME! And of COURSE it was successful this trip! :)

PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 20, 2015) The Halifax-class frigates HMCS Calgary (FFH 335) and HMCS Vancouver (FFH 331) transit the Pacific Ocean as part of a simulated straits transit during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX). U.S. and Canadian Sailors are participating in a Task Group Exercise (TGEX) off the coast of Southern California Oct. 19- Nov. 6. The exercise serves to train units in amphibious warfare, air defense, anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, and maritime interdiction operations, while also building a strong working relationship between the maritime forces of the U.S. and Canada. Joint, interagency, and international relationships strengthen U.S. Third Fleet’s ability to respond to crises and protect the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners.(U. There is a lot of natural light here, mostly coming from straight behind. One flash just to CL BoC, one sitting on the counter CR BoC (Trying to fill in that shadow on the island from the natural light a bit) one far CR BoC, and one in the butlers pantry CR. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Fun fact! I have done a little retouching work for the people that make the cookbook near the stove! Small world!

The Lobkowicz Palace today
The Palais Lobkowitz (also: Palais Lobkowitz-Dietrichstein) is a Baroque palace in the first Viennese district Innere Stadt. It is located on the square that was named after it on Lobkowitzplatz and is one of the oldest palaces in Vienna. The palace is the first major Baroque city palace after the second Turkish siege, when the nobility did not have to invest its money for military purposes only.
The facade of the palace, unlike its interior, still largely preserved in its original state from the time of construction.
History

The today Lobkowitz square was to 1716 called Pig market, since by the end of the 17th Century the Viennese "hop-picking" was held. This was at the time also a Viennese execution site.
The original house on the site of today's palace was sold by Leopold Freiherr von Felß to the imperial Oberststallmeister (Colonel Stable Master) Philipp Count Sigmund von Dietrichstein in 1685. The Count also bought the adjacent bathhouse and let both buildings demolishing. 1685-1687 it was then the present palace built by Giovanni Pietro Tencala. Stonemason Ambrose Regondi from Kaisersteinbruch supplied hard stone quarry for the steps of the main staircase.
The Family Dietrichstein later commissioned several rebuildings of the palace. 1709 Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach for the main portal found in Vienna a unique solution, it was surmounted by an ornate, three-dimensional bow tiara. These carvings were by Giovanni Battista Passerini and Elias Hügel from Kaisersteinbruch carried out. Son Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach also was awarded a contract.
After several changes of ownership (including Wenzel Count Gallas), the palace in 1745 by Ferdinand Philipp Fürst von Lobkowitz was purchased. The palace was from then on until 1980 in the possession of the Lobkowicz family.
At the turn of the 19th Century Ludwig van Beethoven was a frequent guest in the palace, as the former owner Franz Joseph Maximilian von Lobkowitz was an important patron of the composer. Beethoven dedicated his third Symphony (originally appropriated Napoleon and therefore called "Eroica"). In 1804 it was (what was later called the "Eroica Hall") in the ballroom of the palace under the direction of Beethoven performed for the first time in Vienna.
After two concerts in the Winter Riding School of the Vienna Hofburg on 29 November and 3 December 1812 established Friends of Music a Society of Friends of Music (now known worldwide as the Wiener Musikverein). At the Palais Lobkowitz was the list available in which on the foundation membership interested could inscribe. The first office of the company was in the palace.
During the Congress of Vienna many festivals and balls were held in the Palais. Around the middle of the 19th Century moved the headquarters of the Lobkowicz family to the ancestral castle Raudnitz north of Prague and gave the palace in Vienna free to hire.
1869 to 1909 the house was exploited as a French Embassy. 1919-1938 here was Czechoslovak Legation housed, 1939-1945 (after adaptation by Josef Hoffmann), the "House of Fashion". After the Second World War the house was used as the seat of the Viennese Institut français. In 1980 the palace was finally purchased by the state and founded in 1991, after extensive renovation, the Austrian Theatre Museum (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Museum of Art History In Vienna Association of the Scientific Institute) used.

Cliveden
(aka Cliveden House)
There have been three houses on the site.
The first house, built in 1666, burned down in 1795. The second house, built in 1824, burned down in 1849. The present house, built in 1851, by the architect Charles Barry for the 2nd Duke of Sutherland.
Cliveden has been the home to a Prince of Wales, two Dukes, an Earl, and finally the Viscounts Astor. As the home of Nancy Astor, wife of the 2nd Viscount Astor, Cliveden was the meeting place of the Cliveden Set of the 1920s and 1930s—a group of political intellectuals.
Later, during the early 1960s, when it was the home of the 3rd Viscount Astor, it became the setting for key events of the notorious Profumo affair.
The house was passed to The National Trust in 1942 with the condition that the family would continue to live there.
The Astor family stopped living at Cliveden in the 1970s.
The house is surrounded by 376 acres of gardens and woodland that are always open to National Trust visitors.
The house is currently on lease to a company that operates the estate as a luxurious, five-star, Relais & Châteaux hotel and is generally not open to National Trust Visitors.

The Clock Tower

1861
A prominent and historical landmark located in the grounds of Cliveden.
Described by the architectural critic Nikolaus Pevsner as "the epitome of Victorian flamboyance and assertiveness."
Commissioned by the 2nd Duke of Sutherland, who owned Cliveden at that time.
The tower was part of the Duke’s vision to enhance the grandeur of the estate and to illustrate his wealth and status.
Originally intended to serve as a water tower supplying water to the estate. Over time it became more of an ornamental feature but it is still a functional water tower that provides water to the house.
The structure is built in the Italianate style and is notable for its elaborate design and the use of gold leaf.
Topped with a gilded ball and a weathervane which adds to the decorative appeal.
The clock was made by the famous clockmaker James McCabe of the London firm McCabe & Sons.
The tower stands at 100 ft making it a prominent feature on the estate’s skyline.

The second Q434 to show up on the scene in less than 10 minutes. I missed the first one while hiking up to this spot, but was rewarded with the lash-up on the second train. The first was was delayed by a day and they sent the delayed train up right ahead of the on time train. The crews where calling off as Q434-06 and Q434-07 to differentiate themselves.

Students celebrate Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, at Rec Park on the UIS Campus. The event featured Indian song and dance, food, and of course the throwing of vibrant colored powder.
The northern wall of the forecourt is formed by the second Great Pylon which stands 105 feet wide and 40 feet tall. It is set at a different angle than the first Pylon. An incline plane of shallow steps leads to the gateway between the towers.
On the left, or western tower, Ptolemy XII offers incense and dedicates sacrificial animals to Horus, Hathor and other gods. Above this are two small reliefs, horribly mutilated, depicting this king presenting a wreath to Horus and Nephthys and offering incense and pouring water on an altar in the presence of Osiris, Isis and Horus.
On the right, or eastern tower, there are similar scenes but in a much better state of preservation.
After the murder of his father, Osiris, Horus grew to manhood and overthrew the enemies of his father. Horus, as Pharaoh of Egypt, became the ancestor of all succeeding kings. It was therefore essential that each pharaoh on his accession should be recognized as a true descendant of Horus.
At the base of the eastern tower, part of the granite foundation of the original island protruded and this was carved into a stele on which Ptolemy VI Philometor, and his queen Cleopatra II stand before Isis and Horus. This stela was faithfully transferred to the new island with the rest of the temple. An inscription refers to the grant of the Dodekaschoinoi made to Isis, which brought the priests of Philae into parity with those of Elephantine. Dodekaschoinoi is a Greek word for "twelve schoinoi" A schoinos equaled about seven miles. It is not a measurement of area, but rather length, so presumably this meant that their foundation estate to finance the temple extended for about seven miles along the Nile River, including the arable land.
