After the split of GM Buses in the early 90s the Northern bit got the rough end of the deal where minbuses were concerned. The Dodge S56 'Little Gems' were seriously past their best, if indeed they had ever had a best and replacements were sought in the form of MCW Metroriders that were sourced secondhand from a number of fleets. Although the Metrorider was not without its faults GM Buses North started a refurbishment programme and adressed the corosion problem that beset the buses.

Following the First Bus takeover the refurb programme was stopped and nearly new Mercedes Benz minis with Plaxton bodies arrived from Yorkshire Rider. These were a vast improvement and were pretty well recieved, but (theres always a 'but' in stories like this) there wasn't enough to go around. Oldham had Mercs inherited from Citibus, Bolton had Ivecos that came from the same source. What did we get at Wigan, cascaded Dodges from First Centrewest! In fairness Bolton also recieved them as well but after spending a good few years ridding the fleet of Dodges the bastard things were back! These were the bigger S75 version and had Wright bodywork. They took a fleetnumber series that had ironically been used previously by home grown Dodges. The bodywork may be different but they were just like the last ones, boiling in summer, freezing in winter and seriously lacking in power. One time London Buses RW29 is seen at Garswood on a 604 service, now numbered 1908 in the First Manchester fleet.

I finally set up my second Ikea Billy Shelf and even though it’s big I’ve only managed to bring out 1/5th of my dolls in storage. I may rotate them out sometimes but eh, it’s nice seeing a chunk of my dolls again that have been in storage for awhile.

El inicio y la historia de mi nacimiento...

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." (Albert Camus)

I just renewed my Flickr membership for the year, which marks my second year anniversary on Flickr and about two years and one week since I got into photography ~ what a pleasure it has been!

For this day, I decided to put together a quick and dirty collage of some of the photos that I posted over the past year. These photos do not necessarily represent my favourite photos, but instead represent various styles of photographs that I enjoy taking, some of the places where I have been over the past year or so, and all of the seasons except for Winter, which I omitted unintentionally.

I am looking forward to another year on Flickr and continuing to be in contact with all of the friendly and creative people whom I have come into contact with over the past two years. Thank you very much, everyone, for all of your visits and kind comments, and for sharing your creative and beautiful photos! I wish you all another great year...

Previously,

One of the brightest bits from our second night. Some of the aurora in the distance is just starting to tax my sensor.

Im not too sure if this was the same gecko, but later in the evening there was a gecko on the counter looking up at me. I didn't waste the second chance and scooped him up. he just looked at me for a long time while i snapped a few photos of him. i took him outdside and put my hand next to the railing. he gave me one last over the shoulder look before jumping off my hand and running into the night.

Sometimes you get second chances to redeem yourself and sometimes you blow it. The last time I was up here to shoot L593 a tiny cloud rolled in right at the last second. I thought my chances of doing this shot in the late afternoon again were done. But as luck would have it, the WSOR ran another late afternoon trip on the Cambria the Sunday before Labor Day. This was my second chance. Fast forward to chase day and we found clouds covering the Randolph bridge scene. But as we pulled up the sun broke free. It was a mad dash to the top as the train started their crossing sequence. I lined up what I thought I wanted and fired away...framing was an after thought but I got the shot.

Under Soviet rule, each district center was ordered to have a monument to Lenin. As a rule, the monument should have stood in front of the city committee or city council building. In this regard Dmitrov outpaced many regional centers - there are as many as two monuments to Lenin: the first, as expected, in front of the City Council, now the Administration, the second - in front of the House of Culture excavator plant on Bolshevik Street.

About the alternative Lenin from the Bolshevik street, not immediately remember even a native resident of the city of Dmitrov. Because of the layers of paint, which from time to time refresh it, it is quite a little similar to the original, but it does not bother anyone. Rather, the monument just stopped paying attention.

This 1972 Buick Riviera “boat tail” is called...well...Showboat. Swivel seats, a ship’s wheel and a hood big enough to lay on further reflects the boating theme while a big honkin’ 455 Buick V-8 powers the land yacht along. Posable wheels, a second engine and a super 70’s brown and lime color scheme makes this boat a real show-stopper!

An inbound Metro-North train approaches Tremont station. This was the second to last Harlem Line train shown on the departure board before service was suspended. I chose to take this one in rather than wait in the cold for the last one, with limited service to photograph while I waited.
