Decades of overbuilding have produced extensive and heterogeneous urban areas facing some of the most beautiful Italian beaches.
Even in the event of abuse, the repeated amnesties have regularized the buildings for passing on to future generations.
The buildings, different for structure, materials and colors, have gradually accumulated alongside each other in unlikely and fascinating aggregates, constituting a self-contained universe with strong aesthetic and poetic overtones enhanced by the coastal location.

On the seashore of endless worlds children meet.
The infinite sky is motionless overhead and the restless water is boisterous. On the seashore of endless worlds the children meet with shouts and dances.
They build their houses with sand, and they play with empty shells. With withered leaves they weave their boats and smilingly float them on the vast deep. Children have their play on the seashore of worlds.
They know not how to swim, they know not how to cast nets. Pearl-fishers dive for pearls, merchants sail in their ships, while children gather pebbles and scatter them again. They seek not for hidden treasures, they know not how to cast nets.
The sea surges up with laughter, and pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach. Death-dealing waves sing meaningless ballads to the children, even like a mother while rocking her baby's cradle. The sea plays with children, and pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach.
On the seashore of endless worlds children meet. Tempest roams in the pathless sky, ships are wrecked in the trackless water, death is abroad and children play. On the seashore of endless worlds is the great meeting of children.

There's something in the air and while it may not be love,
some say it's the next best thing -- negative ions.
You may have experienced the power of negative ions when you last set foot on the beach or at the mountains. While part of the euphoria is simply being around the wondrous settings and away from the normal pressures of home and work, the air circulating in the mountains and the beach is said to contain tens of thousands of negative ions -- Much more than the average home or office building, which contain dozens or hundreds, and many register a flat zero.
Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments. Think mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.

Portpatrick i det vestlige Skotland, i Det Irske Hav, byder på en vild, klippekyst med små sandstrande.
Portpatrick in Westschottland, an der irischen See, bietet eine wilde, felsige Küste mit kleinen Sandstränden.
Light pollution from nearby Ocean City to Assateague really added to the scene over the marsh along the Maryland eastern shore. I liked the color version ... but the B&W really pops more I think.
Pleiades was also rising above the trees at the horizon.
This is a capture taken at the new elevated walkway in Assateague Island National Seashore. Neat structure, and looked nice under the light there with the shadows being cast.
