Smooth As a Seashell - Exploring Macro Photography.
Seemed easy enough. Photograph something smooth. Many, many attempts later, sunlight, shade, under a cardboard box, with flash, no flash, every ISO/exposure level possible, bracketing, MF, with lamp, no lamp............

Ocean sediment consisting almost entirely of the shells of foraminifera, which are microscopic creatures that have strange and complex shells, some of which are remarkably like larger seashells we're all familiar with.The long thing in the center is a tiny sea urchin spine, (I think)
The camera fogged up going from an air conditioned home into the early morning heat along Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. I knew the camera was fogged but wanted to see what sort of effect the fogged lens would have on the image. My daughter holds up a seashell.
