These wild seals live next to a fish processing plant. The workers there feed them, so they have become used to humans being around.
Sleepy fur seal lazing on a rock in the glorious sunshine. Fur seals are any of nine species of pinnipeds in the Otariidae family.

This seal was found and photographed on the River Lagan in the middle of Belfast city, on a lunch time walk from the office. The Black headed Gulls kept bomarding it, hitting it on the head as it swam along. In the end it turned over a swam upside down to give less of a target area. It must be a good sign of life for the river there is enough prey attract these guys into the city. Unfortunately the light was poor but nice to see.
We saw this guy as we got off the ferry from Iona.. He knew something we didn't, and just sat there whilst everyone took close-ups.

You can take guided ranger walks along the beach to see the Australian sea lions (Neophoca cinerea), which are actually seals. One of the most endangered pinnipeds in the world, there are estimated to be only 10,000 left in the wild.
This was on Kangaroo Island, off the southern Australian coast.

Maybe a month old. Piedras Blancas rookery. Elephant seal pups nurse for about a month, then thy are on their own for food.
Almost walked into this baby seal trying to get a closer look at an adult swimming, as you will understand the baby won hands down. So adorable and it even mimicked me waving!

This leopard seal was extremely lazy, lounging next to a bunch of crabeater seals without paying much attention to them or us, even as we got close enough to touch it. It was extremely cute. Of course, when it yawned sweetly with his face burried in the snow, his razor sharp teeth reminded me that maybe reaching out to pet him isn't the best idea.
