Ah, the elephant head turned out ok too, but "George" is still my favorite :)
***Now I need to figure out how to attach the heads to the cake. My idea is to make the cake look like a wooden box ( I'll post a pic of the idea) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! =)****

A piece created for the Halloween Show at the Cafe Racer with the other Friends of the Nib
I’ve had these little guys finished for just a few weeks, but with classes starting this week I thought I’d take the time to post them. I believe the first time I heard about these creatures, known as Tardigrades, Water Bears, or Moss Piglets was on either Animal Planet, or the Discovery Channel. Fascinating little critters, if you are unfamiliar with them, take a look; you’ll fall in love with them too, I promise: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade
Anyway, this figure was sculpted with Sculpy clay and prepared for the molding process. I made a two-part rubber block mold using Polytek 74-30 Mold Rubber. The cast positives are made of Easy-Flo Clear Plastic, another Polytek product. From start to finish, the process from sculpting to the finished figure took about a week.
My BJD Darjeeling with my handmade art doll, Chander "Candles" Candlestick.
DJ is a Doll Chateau Bella.
Candles has a cloth stuffed body and Sculpy head and hands. He is painted with acrylic paint and gloss. He is 100% designed and made by me.
Mr. Osato, the back of his chair, and Bond and his chair are from a movie still. The rest is a 1:12 scale diorama. The ashtray and phone were made from Sculpy clay.
Super cute cinnamoroll kawaii charms. Handmade by me from polymer clay. These charms are varnished also.
Baby Cinnamoroll is attached to a baby blue cell phone strap to match the baby blue dummy, and cappuccino charm is attached to a baby pink cell phone strap.

This piece was created for Barking Spider Visual Theatre's development of Talking Head.
Barking Spider wrote an original fairy tale in which the little hero becomes immortal and then is tied by his mother to the roof of their house and pecked by birds until all that is left is his skeleton and his head.
The diorama was a collaboration between myself, Penelope Bartlow and Caroline Wessel and based on Jason Lehane's vision.
I built this model over 40 years ago as a prop for a Super 8 film project. Over the years it got pretty beat up and lost some teeth. I made the missing teeth out of Sculpy, then sanded and primed it. I finished it with Krylon Gloss Dover White, shaded it with raw umber water based oil, then dull coated it.

Sun Dragons get their name from the way light makes their eyes shine. They are the most commonly found of the BEC's. They are all brightly colored, but colors and patterns change with each hatching. A Sun Dragon's favorite thing to do is to bask on a rock in a brightly lit spot. This baby Sun Dragon has just sprouted wings. This means he's ready to fly, but not strong enough to get very far.
I primarily work with river rocks, glass marbles and a polymer clay. I like working with polymer clay because it stays soft until cured in an oven. My favorite brand is Fimo, because it works really well for caning (aka millefiori). This technique allows me to create a block of clay that I can cut into slices with a repeating pattern. All of my creatures have been created using this technique.
Special Notes About This Piece:
Sun Dragons have marbles for eyes that catch the light and make the eyes appear to be glowing. They are made with polymer clay and the scale designs are made with a technique called Millefiori.
Made out of lavender, purple and red, with a clear / light blue cat's eye marble.
The wings were made with Liquid Sculpy so that they would be translucent and flexible.
Approx. Dimensions: 1.5" H x 1.5" W x 2.75" D
One of the rune sets I have made for sale.
These are not made from a mold. The clay is hand mixed, layered, and then rolled thin. Each rune is cut out. And then I begin the laborious process of adding the actual sigil to the blank rune. The sigils are made from strings of clay that I extrude through a clay extruding gun.
She is barefooted on terracotta tiles, and reminds me of the joys of Summer like weather almost all year round here in Los Angeles!

My friend Bryan & I placed "Sculpy" (the sculpture I made) in the K-State Union parking lot at 3 a.m. one day, unapproved and unsolicited. It remained for a couple years.
Here, my dad and brother and I finally take Sculpy down, as they're building a new parking garage on the premises.
i found these while i was cleaning in the basement. if any of you, maybe Cate, has any idea why i might have had a bunch of clay mouths kicking around in storage, please let me know.

I made this adobe roombox years ago. It has paper mache clay over wood walls. The floor is foam core that I painted. I believe that the fireplace has a Fimo or Sculpy type base with a cut down paper towel tube for a chimney. I then put the paper mache over it and painted it.
Staff is glass, with glass 'magical ice spheres' attached to a silver chain. I still need to figure out a base (I'm thinking white sculpy) to help it stand
