Painting baby-fish deities with a shitload of paint markers!

If you're in Melbourne (Australia) in March check out No Vacancy Gallery in Jane Bell Lane, QV, Melb CBD! Catch a peek of this little guy completed & the many other little illustrated babies... There'll be heaps of different painted dolls from a range of illustrators, some big names perhaps too........

Stay tuned, ay! I'll reveal more later.

Love this one, also Sculpy and painted

This was a gift for a fellow employee for Christmas. It was pieced together from a baby doll head, a decorative candle holder, a glass vase, an actual branch, wire, salt, and some sculpy. the vein-like curls coming out of the mouth are the only things sculpted.

Painted with enamel and sharpie.

Super cute cinnamoroll kawaii charms. Handmade by me from polymer clay. These charms are varnished also.

Baby Cinnamoroll is attached to a baby blue cell phone strap to match the baby blue dummy, and cappuccino charm is attached to a baby pink cell phone strap.

Before purchasing please read my store policies.

I’ve had these little guys finished for just a few weeks, but with classes starting this week I thought I’d take the time to post them. I believe the first time I heard about these creatures, known as Tardigrades, Water Bears, or Moss Piglets was on either Animal Planet, or the Discovery Channel. Fascinating little critters, if you are unfamiliar with them, take a look; you’ll fall in love with them too, I promise: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade

Anyway, this figure was sculpted with Sculpy clay and prepared for the molding process. I made a two-part rubber block mold using Polytek 74-30 Mold Rubber. The cast positives are made of Easy-Flo Clear Plastic, another Polytek product. From start to finish, the process from sculpting to the finished figure took about a week.

first attempt at modding elf ears. I just used sculpy, so it is very temp, but it's good for practicing.

I think it came out ok...I need to learn how to smooth it better..but I feel that when I use epoxy clay it will be easier..and I can always sand it smooth after it sets. *shrug*

But more practice is needed!

You'll find this, with another piece of cardstock taped over it. This is to try to get the trapeze swing to you in one piece. It's made from green sculpy over a piece of wire. The black thread is wrapped and glued on to the ends and the long strings are looped up. I put 2 toothpicks there so it can't be bent, but I'm sure the PO could try to break them. If they don't make it, I apologize in advance. I will mail you a tiny wooden one if yours comes mangled. I've got my fingers crossed!

I got the idea for this from one of Harry's photos. Seems like the first wave of Action Force had a head that looked a lot like the original GIJoe sculpt, and they used that same sculpt for the Baron. To me, kinda like an inside joke, where the original Joe is out to get new Joe.

This is my first repainted head, not really happy with it, but its fine. Head was originally a Wally-mart Air Adventurer, stripped, added sculpy for mustache and beard.

Check out the original here:

I took some pics while I made the Viper Helmet. This is the first custom built piece I've made. I've really wanted to do major customs like this for a long time. Just went and bought paint and sculpy the other day.

The helmet is from a gumball machine at the Winn-Dixie market. They fit Joes pretty good.

Pic one is the original. This is like the 6th one I did. 3 of the originals melted. Live and learn.

Second pic is sanded down, removed logos & the lip that held the face mask in place.

Third Pic is with sculpy put on the side to cover up the holes, rounded to give a little more body to the helmet.

Fourth pic is the finished helmet. Several coats of "Real Navy", dabbed with a sponge brush to look textured.

Not bad, but remember kids - Boil sculpy, don't bake when attached to plastic. And don't paint before you boil.

Tried two different veneers together in a pendant.... wel i't's not a finished pendant yet.

This little fella took me a couple weeks to complete. His armature was part of a “Vessel” project from one of my Industrial Design courses from the Fall semester last year. The wire form was originally a 1:1 replica of a “chocolate cup” I’d seen at the MFA in Boston. Having three curvy legs it naturally looked like a small creature to me which was part of the original vessel’s charm.

The little guy is sculpted from “extra-firm” Sculpy Clay which I painted and finished off with several real-life textures.
