Looking for photographers and artists from around the world. I would love to publish an anthology of images that include scripture/biblical foregrounds.
My intention is to rediscover the foundation of society with questions of our roots and where certain histories come from. In submitting your images I hope to examine my own notion of history and the beginning of time. Thank you for your interest. I will work on the publishing component upon review of interest.
Longshan Temple is the oldest temple in Taiwan, though only the stones in the floor are original. It is also one of the busiest temples. Toward the front of the temple (near the entrance), I found these women reading, presumably scriptures.
This type of image manipulation is done by repeating a series of words over and over to create a beautiful effect. The words repeated here are a scripture verse from the bible.
This was my fourth project for S260. I had to get inspiration from an object in the IU art museum and I chose a pair of Islamic ties. I took a shape seen a lot in Islamic art and made four walls with four openings drawn from The Mausoleum of Isma‘il b. Ahmad in Bukhara from the early 10th c. I also drew from the idea of Christian art having Islamic influence by including inspiring scripture references on each side. The inside is gold glaze and the outside is white, blue, and turquoise glazes as are a lot of Islamic art work and architecture decorations.
