Darktable, although it’s good software, used too much memory on my old-ass laptop to really take these tethered pictures quickly. As a solution, I wrote a script that I could add to my keyboard as a hotkey and now I can take a picture with just a push of a keyboard button. You need gphoto2 to make it work, naturally, and eog is Eye of Gnome which comes with Ubuntu as the default image viewer. Copy this into an empty document, switch your user name for mine, save it as tethered.sh (or whatever.sh), set it as executable and it should work.
#!/bin/bash
IMG="$(gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download)"
eog -n /home/adriana/Desktop/tether/$IMG

These Ogham stones were moved from their original sites in Baile an Reannaigh and Baile an Istínigh in mid 19th C by Lord Ventry.
Ogham (pronounced Ohm) is an ancient linear script, an alphabet, probably dating from the 2nd- 4th century, and was the first known written language of Ireland . The Ogham letters consisted of a series of notches carved on a stone or piece of wood.
Wightwick Manor (pronounced "Wittick") is a Victorian manor house located on Wightwick Bank, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is one of only a few surviving examples of a house built and furnished under the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement. Wightwick was built by Theodore Mander, of the Mander family, who were successful 19th-century industrialists in the area, and his wife Flora, daughter of Henry Nicholas Paint, member of Parliament in Canada. It was designed by Edward Ould of Liverpool in two phases; the first was completed in 1887 and the house was extended with the Great Parlour wing in 1893.
This family house portrays life during the Victorian era and is a notable example of the influence of William Morris, with original Morris wallpapers and fabrics, De Morgan tiles, Kempe glass and Pre-Raphaelite works of art. Information form Wikipedia. April 2016.
