As in Victorian times, the precious, hand-lettered look of custom stationery is back in vogue. Enter Courtesy Script, my newest ornamental script typeface.
Courtesy captures the elegance and propriety of finely practiced Spencerian penmanship, in particular the Zanerian school. Its lowercase is notably understated, a simple monoline with very wide connections that ease readability. In the capitals, Courtesy adds variety in both the weight of the strokes, and in degrees of flourish — from merely fancy to over-the-top engrossery.
Based on an alphabet found in a 19th-century penmanship journal, Ale created hundreds of additional, stylistically complementary letterforms. Alternate capitals and lowercase letters, swashed lowercase forms, and ending and ornamental swashes; numerals, punctuation, and non-English and accented characters.
With virtually endless ways to customize its use, Courtesy helps designers create fluid, signature looks on stationery and invitations, book covers, fashion layouts, and packaging.

ack. what is this? i'm running scripts left and right and then this happens. i'm confused and i find this to be a difficult error to search for on google. lots of forum things but all very different and i'm successfullly running another script in another terminal window now...

Experimenting with CHDK and motion detection scripts. I still have a lot to learn here, but these are the first experiments in the kitchen sink :-) (not a fancy setup). Modified a little using lightroom (cropping, color and sometimes exposure). Using internal flash.

My first try at constructing a script and alphabet... Interesting result, definitely a learning experience.

Results of a script-fu I wrote to emulate the effects of shooting on expired (5 year in my case) Polaroid 600 film.
I shot some polaroids on this 5-year expired film, and liked the results. There was an interesting undeveloped portion in the corners that I thought was neat. So I set out to reproduce the effects in GIMP with some script-fu.

Fun thing about the script is that there is no input. You can't control anything about how it exposes your image (like a Polaroid!), but you can run it multiple times to get different versions...

The art community in Second Life is a varied one. Fine art, outsider art, underground art, performance art and music are all mixed in with the technical aspects of programming and scripting.
Second Life is one of the first places to combine right and left brain thinkers into one fantastic execution of art and builds in a virtual reality.
The sophistication of the artist is apparent at several places on the SL grid. There are many places that rival my favorites, but these are my personal choices based on my reaction or how long it stayed with me.
The Apollo sim will always be my very favorite place, but here are two that just captured my head and heart. La Reve and pteron are included on my "to die for" list and of course, The A List!
Both are fantastic. Both are fabulously done with a flair that most of us who build, will never achieve. I also included a few stand-outs from Esperance, Nebulous's ArtHole installation, and also, the conceptual Muzik Haus.
Muzik Haus is included, not because of the build itself. That part is simple, but the concept itself is one that stays with me. Mr Widget is the dj and his party making mash-ups create a total ambiance that drives the performance itself.
He is my current favorite dj. He is a mash-up king. And he shares his knowledge with us so generously.
All these places and all these people... standing before you and your art, sometimes overwhelms me to a point of tears. The emotional connection I feel when I explore or listen is the reason why I believe that art equals life. For without art... life is a dreary place and that is no life for anyone.
