Wellsworth Script

is the neurotic, shaky handed younger sibling of Julia Script, a lovechild letraset font of the 1970s. Wellsworth Script is available in EPS format and includes many alternate characters for additional combinations when handsetting.

Taken during Saturday's Make-A-Strip panel with the Penny Arcade guys. Jerry (Tycho) opened it up with typing out the pre-written script on the projected screen of the laptop they were using. The rest of the panel comprised of Mike (Gabe) drawing the actual panels - with frequent comical interruptions, such as when he drew Gabe as a centaur or a Cthuhlu-like monster - and Jerry (and sometimes Mike) answering Q&A questions. Jerry sang, too!

Cuneiform script is one of the earliest known systems of writing, distinguished by its wedge-shaped marks on clay tablets, made by means of a blunt reed for a stylus. The name cuneiform itself simply means "wedge shaped", from the Latin cuneus "wedge" and forma "shape," and came into English usage "probably from Old French cunéiforme."

The original Sumerian script was adapted for the writing of the Akkadian, Eblaite, Elamite, Hittite, Luwian, Hattic, Hurrian, and Urartian languages, and it inspired the Ugaritic and Old Persian alphabets. Cuneiform writing was gradually replaced by the Phoenician alphabet during the Neo-Assyrian Empire. By the 2nd century AD, the script had become extinct, and all knowledge of how to read it was lost until it began to be deciphered in the 19th century.

Today I began work on "Titanic the Movie the Play" with my partners in crime Greg and Dan. Nine hours plus of work and we have a storyboard, which is great. Show is in March at Bris Powerhouse. I used the app Enlight to try tilt shifting on the title.

Any challenge using script I cannot resist. The backdrop is a scrap from Sue - can you imagine her giving this away! I had the darling little girl in my files and just printed her out on PP so that she had a pattern on her apron. I stamped the French writing stamp with the dill on the back panel and the Friends definition stamp on a coordinating green scrap. The button is even from HA and the pearl on the butterfly.

Clawdia has been working on a new script. Wonder what it's about.

Part 9 of the Monster High Selfie Series

Examining the completed draft of a script I co-wrote that features Sherlock Holmes. The placement of the magnifying glass and the visibility of the stone cat beneath the real one’s chin were pure luck.

Experimenting with scripting this morning.

Tested paints: Liquitex Acrylic (ivory black), Artist's Loft (lamp black), Schmincke gouache (ivory black).

Additive: Liquitex flow-aid

Brushes tested: Noname #1, Master's Touch #20/0 ex liner, Royal 20/0 detailer liner, and Artist's Loft 6/0 liner.

Hypothesis: I think the Artist's Loft paint will appear runny/watercolor like because it's cheapest. I think Liquitex will flow better than Gouache. I think Gouache will be thick and purest/darkest.

Surprising results for me.

There were several different variants of seal script which developed in each kingdom independently during the warring state period and spring and autumn. The 'birds and worms script', was used in the Kingdoms of Wu, Chu, and Yue. It was found on several artifacts including the Spear of Fuchai, and Sword of Goujian.

Bronze sword of King Gōujiàn of Yuè (late Spring & Autumn), with bird script; detail--part of inscription: "越王自作" Yuè Wáng zì zuò, “Made by the King of Yuè”. Húbĕi Provincial Museum

On one side of the blade, two columns of text were visible. In total there are eight characters written in an ancient script. The script was found to be the one called "鳥蟲文" (literally "'birds and worms'-characters" owing to the intricate decorations to the defining strokes), a variant of zhuan that is very difficult to read. Initial analysis of the text deciphered six of the characters, "越王" (King of Yue) and "自作用劍" ("made this sword for (his) personal use"). As a southern state, Chu was close to the Wu-Yue influences. Chu produced broad bronze swords that were similar to Wuyue swords, but not as intricate. Chu also used the difficult to read script called "Birds and Worms (鳥蟲文)" style, which was borrowed by the Wu and Yue states.
