Kai Guava Plantation in Kiluea, Kawaii, Hawaii, USA =)

Rows of guava trees. You gotta get their Guava Jelly and Sorbet... and heck, try a bunch of their juices, it's so good! They provide guavas for Ocean Spray, but OS waters it down. Get it pure from the store, it's fantastic.

When I was a small child, I was sure someone had been through the bush scribbling on tree trunks!

From Wikipedia: "Scribbly gum (Eucalyptus haemastoma) is an Australian eucalypt that is named after the 'scribbles' on its bark. These zigzag tracks are tunnels made by the larvae of the Scribbly Gum Moth (Ogmograptis scribula) and follow the insect's life cycle. Eggs are laid between layers of old and new bark. The larvae burrow into the new bark and, as the old bark falls away, the trails are revealed. The diameters of the tunnels increase as the larvae grow, and the ends of the tracks are where the larvae stopped to pupate."

SCRIBBLY GUMS

Pure essence of the bush is distilled into the drawing. I want these vessels to bring the wild tang of the eucalyptus forest to the civilised ritual of drinking tea, to capture first the smoky rays of sun touching the tops of the eucalyptus, the cool damp smell of the dew and the "wheeeeeeee- CRACK" of the whip bird's call.

A yunomi is simply defined as a ceramic drinking vessel with a turned foot that is taller than it is wide. They are used in Japan for everyday drinking and are often sold in pairs. The pairs are not identical but complimentary with decoration and shape differing slightly, the larger cup being the "husband" and the smaller the "wife"."

PRESS L FOR LARGE

These are steel reaming broaches that I use to enlarge the hole of a clock or watch hand so that it may fit onto an arbor or canon pinon. I use a pin vice that clamps on via an adjustable chuck to hold the broach, For small watch hands I have a special vice that has an assortment of different size holes to pick from. The hand is placed over the hole needed for sizing then I screw down the vice so the hand will not move once I start to ream with the broach.

Had a habit of scribbling on anything and everything I could lay my hands on... this box was no exception. Before it hits the trash, I thought I'd share this little gem titled "Freak Thoughts 2-26-96"

"Sometimes when I take a walk in the park I come upon a kind old woman. She always carries with her a bag of bread crumbs and feeds the flock of pigeons that crowd around her park bench. As if they were her children, she sings to them a sweet lullaby, As I watch, I can't help but think, 'I wonder if they taste like chicken? '"

am seeing the downside of drawing with markers... they seem to bleed through.. not the best quality paper really this book.

I was bored in Italian class one day... and this is what ensued.
