Almost eighteen years ago, this scribble was the start of a composition which was to become the nearest thing I’ve experienced to a ‘hit’ (hah!), the up-and-down riff here being one of its characteristics. Since then it has been published, and has been performed many times around the country, the most exciting that I witnessed being a performance in the grand, Victorian opulence of Leeds Town Hall with massed school choirs and full orchestral arrangement. Definitely one of life’s little ‘highs’ that will forever stay with me!

The title of the piece? We-––––ll, that’s a mere detail really... and, as you know, I’m very shy and retiring (though, sadly, not retiring on royalties!!).

Some marks made by newly aquired graphite sticks. If I keep this up eventually I might get back to where the 18 year old me was!

Some silly airline transport pilot thought it would be funny to break the continuity of the Lima Lima Flight teams smoke trail by mixing his fuel with the atmosphere at 30,000 feet. Ha ha ha, very funny. Thanks a lot pal!
