Hey everyone, welcome to my corner of the flickrverse once again :)

I created this photo late Thursday night at Austinmer beach on the South Coast of NSW. I've been getting very much into the night sky lately and after what seems like forever I was lucky enough to get a clear night which didn't turn cloudy 10 minutes after I turned up!

Enough babble anyway... If you're interested in how I made this shot, the details are as follows:

Camera: 5D mk2

Focal Length: 24mm

ISO: 1600

Exposure: 30 seconds

Grad filter: 2 stop soft edge - upside down (to tame the lights from the street)

I made 120 shots at the above settings and stacked them in a freeware program called StarStax, which gives me the equivalent of a 1 hour exposure.

The main benefit of the stacking method as opposed to making a single 1 hour exposure is that I now get to make a 5 second time lapse video with all the individual frames :)

Off topic, but you may be interested; I am the developer of the ScratchCam iPhone photo app and I'm currently giving away $100 in amazon vouchers on the web site - if you're interested hit up www.scratchcam.com

Thanks!

Steve

In retrospect she realized it was probably wiser to just forge ahead and not concern herself with whether or not she left the oven on.

I'm sorry I've been so absent on Flickr these days. My life has been crazy lately and tomorrow marks the first step in a new chapter. Tomorrow I'm moving out of my house of the past 12.5 years and into a temporary apartment for a couple of months . . . and then I'm off to the burbs of Boston, MA come end of September! I'm so ready for this change. Seattle has been wonderful to me, but I've been here too long; it's time for a new adventure! I promise that as soon as I'm settled in my new digs (albeit temporary), I'll spend a good amount of time here on Flickr catching up with everyone's beautiful imagery. Hope you all are doing well and I'll catch you later! xoxo

"Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away." ~Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor who lived from 121 to 180 AD. If he were on Instagram, I'd totally follow him.

This is a sheep farm a few miles from my house. I had to take this pic from pretty far away on the street. One of these days I'll get the courage to trespass in order to get closer. I wonder if they own a shot gun?

I did this circle framing in an app called Truefilm and I discovered this app thanks to Beezzz_. I was visiting her uber-creative stream and was really taken with a particular image and how she had processed it. Thankfully she listed the apps she used which lead me to Truefilm; it's a fun app, and at only $.99 what do you have to lose? Go check out Beezzz_'s stream when you get a chance; she's really creative!
