Scratch-built 2.6x upscale of an Estes C6-5 motor. Designed to fly on an Estes C6-5 motor....

60mm Dia x 270mm Long.

Due to the hot weather of late, no flying is taking place... Just building.. building.. and more building!!

(This is just one rocket - not 4 - photos from different sides!!)

See it fly on YouTube

Trio of Bristol VRLL's currently held in stock in my collection, Standerwick cream and red is a very nice scratchbuild, othe r2 are pirate kit builts

The shed is taking shape with the side wall planks on and trusses mounted to the two Hemlock skids. Roof stringers are on and the tin has been placed on the far side. The structure is built to be movable on the skids. As you can see this was a glorious day and over the course of the weekend my dreams getting in some railfanning faded. I kept improving/adding to the design as I went and I knew the good weather wouldn't last. I wanted to keep rolling and get this project wrapped up. October 11, 2020.

The left two are unmodified, the right ones have had the blocks removed and the tread re-cut.

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Been delayed with personal business but I'm back at it and getting close to finishing the small detailing of the wall panels. Each individual square it cut, placed then layered again with a smaller square. One at a time....and I'm almost done. YAY! #alien #MUTHUR6000 #diorama #custom #styrene #modelbuilding #scratchbuilding #nostromo #weylandyutani #aliencovenant

The scratch build project ready. Quiet satisfied for a first time.

Later it will have its place on the layout.

Although I do not longer play W40K, I always have been a sucker for the Ultramarines chapter.

When I bought the Marneus Calgar miniature from the old Rogue Trader era , I discovered that "Ultramarine" no longer meant cool.

That was REALLY shocking.

However, Ultramarines do not admit defeat, so I turned it into a joke diorama.

The diorama is quite old, but it is still very popular among my friends. ^_^

Customization inspired by Hulk Buster but this is not Hulk Buster per se. Extra parts mostly from Kotobukiya's Builder's Parts and excess part from PG Astray Red Frame, and PG 00 Raiser. A bit of kitbash from LBX DEQ00 and MG Sazabi ver.Ka. Paint job consists of Tamiya's Spray Can TS-38 (Gun Metal) and dry-brushed with Tamiya's paint XF-16 (Flat Aluminium). Lighting works consist of Hiromi's mini LEDs.

Nostromo build update..."Mother" Security Portal - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. "Security Portal" - it's the doorway section with the supposed scan that lights up allowing access to the "Mother's Womb" as Ridley Scott likes to call it. The first section of the corridor that leads to the Nostromo's master computer - a work in progress. I realized it's a tad taller than it should be...not much of a concern. Had to compensate for making the entrance from the bridge a tad too large. Still works smile emoticon

SO MUCH DETAIL into what I thought would be a simple panel wall. The more I studied the photos however, the more I realized just how much attention was given to every corner of these stage designs. Brilliant and insane.

One day soon I will master LEDs and how to wire them appropriately. Knowing that, I decided to create the doorway using clear acrylic as the frame. This is so I can add LED panels to the exterior later and recreate the lighting effect. Currently, the light is emanating from a handheld LED light...but even this offers an awesome effect. Next step is to sculpt the padding to the interior of the doorway, add a control panel then begin to build out into the small security corridor. ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎mother‬ ‪#‎MUTHUR‬ ‪#‎mastercomputer‬ ‪#‎weyland‬ ‪#‎dallas‬ ‪#‎tomskerritt‬

301 - 30= 30th SF3D model built and 1 = first scratchbuild.

I threw together a bunch of smaller images I had so it was easier to refer to. Unfortunately, the creators do not ship this resin kit outside of Japan. This was available at the 2006 Winter Wonderfest. A couple friends of mine went, I wish I had known this was for sale! I'm still trying to get one.. >:o(

Can you spot all the source bits? (I bet you can't...)

SoroSuub Corporation Front Loader MOC

This is a second iteration on the original 'Space Tug' scratch build by Adam Alpern aka @monsterpartywars. This Front Loader is developed to load a Barge which is pushed by the Space Tug.

The front section is partly inspired by the Front Loader concept design by Eduard Pronin, and the Hover Loader design of Hanzhong Wang. Last but not least, I chose yellow to give it a bit of an Alien P-5000 Power Loader feeling 😊.

I am very happy with the result and named it the ‘SoroSuub Front Loader’. SoroSuub Corporation was a Sullust-based company which developed and manufactured a great variety of technological goods, from droids and sensors to weapons and vehicles.

I decided this would be the perfect, fictitious and non Canon, manufacturer of the Front Loader 😉.

Go and check out Adam's designs here on Flickr or on Instagram. His models in 1:144 scale are amazing!

Today was supposed to be my day off, but 6 hours later and I've ended up with this.

Just a quick little scratchbuild in 1/72nd of the Hoth AT-ST variant

Approx. 1:200 scale scratch build. You may recognise it.

SoroSuub Corporation Space Tug MOC

It started with inspiration from a scratch build by Adam Alpern aka @monsterpartywars, and I decided to take a shot at building his amazing Space Tug in Lego.

Adam was a great help, by sending me some different angles of his design, so I could build it properly 🙏.

I am very satisfied with the result and named it the ‘SoroSuub Corporation Space Tug’.

Fleet / Reg: 51 (SND 551X)

Chassis: Bristol LHS6L

Body: East Lancs B28F

Model: Scratchbuilt by ME!

Notes: This is a model of the second of an unique pair(!) of LHSs delivered new to Rossendale. These were the only two examples of this chassis / body combination.

This pair were regular performers on the route between Rawtenstall and Cowpe, which just happened to have a fantsatic pub at the time!

This is my first attempt at scratch-building and I am rather pleased with the outcome. The parts used for completion were: - Fanfare Wheels, Mark Hughes seats, wipers and mirrors and Frank Howard's Rossendale transfers.

POSTSCRIPT: Received first prize at the 2013 MBF AGM show for best in class.

Some Photoshop Tomfoolery .. The thread on RMWeb that I post to about 'Caledonia Basin' involved a discussion on backscenes and whether a moody sky might work on my little diorama.

We swapped ideas (via the medium of Photoshop) and here's my latest contribution. Smoke and sky are additions - the rest is 'real'.

I sanded and buffed the old badly-scratched canopy from a "gluebomb" and nearly brought the top back to new.

Quick Sunday update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 Chamber - completed the sculpt to the overhead section of the entrance way using Aves FIXIT. It's a solid block...was thinking of building a styrene frame to sculpt over but I had some older FIXIT I had to use up so what the heck...it worked out just fine. Still have padding to complete - hope to get an hour or so to complete that tonight. Threw the chair (still a work in progress) in there for the second shot. More to come! #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #weylandyutani #scratchbuild #model #diorama #avesstudio #FIXIT #sculpting

KitBashed Locomotives - Paduchah Rebuild GP10/GP11 Custom Kitbashed

HO Scale custom kitbash / build of a replica of the GP7/GP9 locomotives that were rebuild by the IC Paducah, Kentucky shops in the late 1970's producing the GP10/GP11. This undecorated model was done by James Adams of Affordable Model to match the CIRR #1811 prototype.

We can also custom paint and weather them for you to your specifications.

I was approached by 5 Wits Attractions to design and build a custom version 3 dimensional model of the classic nautilus submarine featured in Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues under the sea, to be displayed in the museum of their interactive attraction. The design would incorporate interactive lighting and would be approximately 4 feet long.

I wanted to keep with a more organic and streamlined shape though with a bit more grounded in reality design for a submarine. In the original story Verne's description of the sub was more like a Narwhal whale, as such I had always envisioned it to be more like a whale shark. I believed this design would be able to better camouflage into the ocean, while being a perfect design for ramming ships with it's dorsal fin.

My only limitations with this design were the placement of the windows, diving bell and latches which had to mimic the placement in the already built attraction at 5 Wits. The model was scratch built using foam, Worbla, resin, wood, and plastic and is lit by LEDs.

A Bill Day scratchbuild of the earlier Duple Carribean body in the allover cream livery used by 'recoverymike' in his Barline Travel fleet. Good to meet you today, Mike.

All photos in this set are pictures I've acquired through a lot of searching and researching for a model scratchbuild. I want to get these out to anyone who may be interested, and I take no credit for taking any of these pictures, nor building the models seen here.

WH40K Space marine "Chuck" battle armour.

So much nostalgia...

I'm pretty sure drowning a big Maker in water is bad form.

Making progress on scratchbuilding the depot.

The moon tank was made around a tank body, heavily modified with styrene and brass sheet, kitbashed parts, and sticky vinyl

To scratchbuild anything takes much effort and patience. At least 46 miniature pieces would make up this build -comprised of wood, acetate, paper and wire.

Rough electricals assembly. Thankfully my college (not American college, which is actually university; I'm not that old) lets me use the laser cutter for this kind of thing, so I got the LED boards and internal chamber details cut on that, which makes my life a bit easier.

Command Unit of the Großdeutschland Panzer Battalion during the 1947 Warsaw counterattack.

This variant, also known as "Jagdgunther", is equipped with two massive 128mm Pak 44 guns. What kind of inertial dampeners uses to fire such oversized weapons remains a mistery.

Recovery of an operational Jadggunther is top priority for all Allied Forces.

A fun scratchbuilding project, more of which can be found on my RMWeb workbench thread

So far the building has all been with styrene plastic. This has been a fun challenge. I figured if I am building one, I might as well build two of them.
