Scratchbuild locoshed, 1 track

Maschinen Kreiger style scratchbuild and a work in progress

Been over three years in the making, but with little spare time to devote to her, I don't mind. Will be in the water in a couple of weeks time, then some more detailing, railings and some rigging etc, to complete her to my satisfaction.

DAS clay sculpture of a sci fi warrior, started as a head sculpt study that got a bit bigger. Basic armature is aluminium foil over wire, with the gun made from a oven/BBQ lighter

Painted 1/32 scratchbuild 300 Spartans.

I've been planning this in my head for a month, so I based the construction on observations made in the "real world".

I finally sat down and cobbled this together with styrene materials that I had available and using prototype (14' x 48') dimensions as reference. It's not as spindly as the prototypes appear to be, but this first attempt is acceptable.

The next step is a shot of brown paint, some weathering and custom images....

WIP Eldar Avatar. Scratch build over a action figure skeleton. My interpretation of the classic GWS Eldar Avatar from warhammer 40k. Worked on the project on and off for about 2yrs now, will finish and start painting only when I'm absolutely happy with it. Cheers.

This was a nice model. By this time I had become more able with the plasticard. For the wheels i tried mouding a rubber compound which was really intended to make rubber moulds. Over some while the wheel/tyres distorted terribly! I found in the box a set of reasonable rubber tyres obtained from some proprietry kit of the time - I'd intended to build new wheels around these - included if you'd like a restoration job!

Some yellowing to the glazing material on this one.

All of these models have now found a new home and some may be rejuvenated in due course!

This is a custom Hearts of Steel : Optimus Prime, built by Griffith of monolith productions, painted by me. Its about 300 parts. This was one of the most difficult paint jobs ever for me, I had to use special resin adhering paints for the base coats. From there, I coated with lacquers and detailed with Testors Model Master enamels.

Partially scratchbuild Fire Brushtruck based on a 1:18 MAISTO Hummer. Beside the front end up to the drivers cabine, the entire rear section is handmade by me. The Fire truck is an almost 100% replica of the brush units former used by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Since this model was made for somebody else, who wanted to apply his own decals, this truck has no markings on.

Sculpt progress on the derelict corridor - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sculpted the base of the Giger corridor today to give it more stability and filled in some gaps. Sculpted down the floor of the corridor to make way for sculpted detail which will be sculpted using FIXIT sculpt. More to come! ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎corridor‬ ‪#‎derelict‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎sculpting‬ ‪#‎avesstudio‬

I threw together some parts to show how it's going.

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "Mother" security corridor - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Sometimes the build requires creating pieces not seen and are made to simply give stability and bring together various parts of a diorama. Although the ceiling of the security corridor contains some detail, the main build of the frame's purpose is to plug in and hold the walls together. Nothing really fancy to show and I haven't added the ribbed detailing but hopefully you can see the progress I'm talking about. I've also included and exterior of the build from the MU/TH/UR entrance from the bridge, leading to the computer's chamber or "womb" as Sir Ridley Scott liked to call it. Looks a little similar to the actual stage build. I plan to create a nice "shell" that will cover this exterior build which will resemble the exterior of he ship and give that much more stability to the diorama. More to come! #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #diorama #scratchbuilding #diorama #corridors

Actually I'm not sure if "scratchbuilding" is 100% accurate. All the black plastic parts you see in this photo are stock of modified Athearn GP-35 parts. The rest is my work.
