WIP Eldar Avatar. Scratch build over a action figure skeleton. My interpretation of the classic GWS Eldar Avatar from warhammer 40k. Worked on the project on and off for about 2yrs now, will finish and start painting only when I'm absolutely happy with it. Cheers.
This is a custom Hearts of Steel : Optimus Prime, built by Griffith of monolith productions, painted by me. Its about 300 parts. This was one of the most difficult paint jobs ever for me, I had to use special resin adhering paints for the base coats. From there, I coated with lacquers and detailed with Testors Model Master enamels.

Added some handles to finish the ribs inside the engine bell, and started adding some details to the mount.
Quite pleased with the spare track links as engine brackets, but they need a bit of disguising I think.
Honestly it did not take long at all to make this rough sculpt of the body.. I moved slow, but it only takes a few minutes once you get a feel for it. I use a cordless Dremel tool; works beautifully, well worth $40 or whatever they sell for now (mine was a Christmas gift). I found myself judging the angles to make sure both sides were symmetrical more than half the time it took to carve it. It also helps if you draw out the shape you want with a marker.

Doors to the storage compartments onboard the Narcissus shuttle diorama are complete - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Needs some cleaning up and of course paint (coming later) but doors for both sides are good to go. Second image shows the inside of the door - using different color styrene because I ran out - no significance other than that. It will all be painted anyway :) . Ripley hides just inside the compartment.....#alien #narcissus #nostromo #diorama
Building the doors of the supply room compartments for the Narcissus Shuttle - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Yawn!! I know - wow, yay doors right? Gotta do the other door and then the insides of both with clear acrylic for the view ports. #Nostromo #narcissus #shuttle #diorama #scratchbuilding

I used some bondo and styrene to fill in large gaps and widen an old Lockheed jet model. I don't know where the jet came from, but it wasn't built or painted very well, so I scrapped it as a donor. I'll likely leave the rear open with the engine exposed under a rollcage. Honestly the wheels were my inspiration to build a model like this.
Further fitting the parts together (exposed rear). Without something in the rear it looks too unbalanced, which is why I like the red container in the back.
Based on reference photos from 'Two Factory' book ( page Y-59).
I was playing with the light and my camera phone for this photo effect. This
model is still a work in progress.

Shed number 1 is now more or less complete. I still have to devise, make and fit some brackets to hold the drain pipes in place but other than that the job is complete and I am very satisfied.
