These scouts salute as the national colors are lowered for the day just prior to the evening meal. Scouts of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds assemble to show their respect to our nation at this tradtional event. This photo strikes me in that the 'imperfectness' of the scouts makes it real, genuine.
The Bonfire Yell is one of the highlights of the annual Scouting Camporee. The boy scouts and girl scouts of SFAMSC show off their talents in dance, acting, and singing as they perform their cheers and yells exulting the values of scouting and challenging the other patrols to do better with friendly jabs that help spark healthy competition. To give their very best performance, each patrol dedicate many days to choreograph and practice their yells. This activity helps develop important life skills such as cooperation, teamwork, creativity, and the strength of character to be able to perform publicly. Audiences are usually surprised so see once timid and shy students shine and give it their all in the Bonfire Yell.

Today I was out shooting some follow up images for my Kansas City project. I making rounds to a few spots looking for fall color and things I missed. The image posted today was not planned but I realized I was at the interesting angle with the sun directly behind the KC scout sculpture. SO I decided to try to make something out of it. It's interesting and may be worth attempting again.
This was shot on a Canon 6D and Canon 300 f2.8 lens. Processed in Adobe Lightroom 5.6.
